I've been having a problem where every time I press play on the title screen, the game just stops working. I have absolutely no idea how to mod any fallout game. Also I'm a terrible with anything technical.

p.s. I have the right specs to play.

I think Fallout 3 needed to set processor affinity on multicore systems. Ctrl+Shift+Esc, select Fallout 3 process then right click and set affinity to 0.

Fallout 3 runs fine on my i5 CPU out of the box..
You may still try affinity trick and see if it works for you, follow my guide and get back to us.

Set The Sabouteur to run on 4 cores only

shortcut with two cores should look something like this:
%COMSPEC% /C start /affinity 5 D:/GOG Games/Fallout 3/Fallout 3.exe

edit:
otherwise use the tool mentioned by the end of the guide.

Sorry for being a noob with this kind of stuff, but, once I install process lasso, what do I do?

Run Fallout 3, alt_tab to desktop, pen process lasso (icon should be located in the systray, somewhere about the clock).
Right click on Fallout3.exe, select CPU affinity (limit CPU use) -> Always -> Select CPU Affinity

Sad to hear that.. You may get rid of Process Lasso or keep it, the software can be useful.
What is your GPU?
Did you try Fallout 3 crashes as its starts a new game d3d9.dll fix?

Another shot: Updated unofficial Fallout 3 patch
Do you have DirectX9 installed? The game won't run without it.

If I remember correctly, I had to install all 4 of these files to get the game to work.

It's a laptop from what I can see. Might be a problem with your integrated graphics. Make sure your drivers are up to date.
And, as mentioned above, download and install DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010)
