[This is a sticky post, it will be visible in every single page of this thread. It has been published in October 2020.]

Our moderation team decided not to take a side in the discussion since this giveaway thread was created by the community and, as long as there are no forum rules violated, is up to you, dear Gogers, to decide its fate. We will not set giveaway rules, edit the OP's post, nor lock the whole thread.

However, to make it easier for newcomers to understand the situation (about the OP being inactive and other), I will stick my own post right above the first one.

You are, of course, free to create new threads to start anew and make your own, clear rules. At the same time, please stay reasonable when crating them, as multiple new duplicates might make it even more confusing for many Gogers.

That being said, here you can find a post with dxenija's community poll to have better understanding of the situation: CLICK.

At the time of writing, open giveaway threads are:
- Massive Giveaways Blog
- Free (temporary) keys giveaway central topic. (this one)
- Updated Itch.io giveaways

Be nice to each other *flies away*

HeDanny: Still, I'm going to put my prediction down for Beat Blaster anyway. If we are wrong, we are wrong together.
You did it again! :P

BenKii: Mark your calendars for July 13th because Ubisoft announced on its Twitter page that they will be giving away "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell" for free on their Uplay service via the Ubisoft Club Website. Currently the Ubisoft Club has Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time for free. This title will be replaced with Splinter Cell starting July 13th. It looks like UPlay is doing something similar like Origin's "On the House" promo to try to get more people signed up for their UPlay service.
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell is now available !
like prince of persia you don't need uplay to play splinter cell, you just need it to download the game

I thought that it was mandatory to have Uplay open to play a game, or that was implemented only on the newer games?

I think it is not mandatory in games released before uplay, but I'm not sure. What I know is that both prince of persia sands of time and Splinter Cell can be played without uplay.
I'm sure because I ported them with a wineskin wrapper for the gog version... with no uplay at all.

I installed them with uplay on a virtual machine of windows, started them once to configure the installationand I copied the folder of the game on my wine wrapper.
it is really difficult to port a client like uplay because after the port you need to keep it updated to the last version (and that can break the port)... with a drm-free and client-free version I can just use an already made wine wrapper.

This is a sorta free deal because it's considered a trial for a service and not a code for a free game but I thought Gog members of this thread should know about it.

Origin has a 7 day free trial for "Origin Access" to play all of the games in "The Vault". You can cancel the subscription at any time.
