Would be nice so I could play it. I don't buy or play Denuvo games so GOG release a DRM free version and you'll have a $59.99 day one purchase.

nightcraw1er.488: Making this game, or in fact any game from the series, in any way good is way beyond current technology.

Mr.Mumbles: Yeah, well, you know, that's just like your opinion, man.
Indeed it is, and there are no forum rules stating I cannot give it. Dreadful game series, if you took stalker, removed the open world, tacked on a naff storyline, added some set corridor shooting, bingo you have the metro series. The 6.8 on meta critic is generous.
I don't know how many of GOG's customers are willing to buy a game at full price, $60. I think GOG sees better sales numbers, when they release a triple A game, at a discount. One year later, once STEAM numbers dried up, the game can be put on offer, 50% off, DRM-Free on GOG, and it will sell reasonably well.

I'm not saying that there wouldn't be people willing to pay $60, but I think the vast majority aren't, to warrant the day one releases.

However this is just my impression of how things work, and only GOG could comment on how close to reality this is.
Oh, is it up that soon? That's great news. I'll be sure to buy it somewhere.

TL;DR: I agree

My game Library says roughly 700 games(*) and according to my excel, I buy my games on an average of -66,43% (**)

There are only 5 games in my excel, that I bought for more than 20€/$ and only 1 game(***) of them wasn't on a discount when I bought it. With the other 4 games being 40 to 60% off.

There are not much games I'd buy at full price simply because there are at least 3 sales (Weekly, midweek, weekend) per week with additional "Publisher Sales" or recently "surprise sale" or "release sales" or summe/winter/halloween/... sales. Not counting free games handed out from time to time(****)
There is no neccessarity to buy games at full price with such a huge backlog.

(*) And I still play only the one game every weekend :-)
(**) Hard to get the exact value, because gog switch from USD only to €/$ in August 2014
(***) Witcher 2
(****) sum of orginal prices (€/$) from all games, that I aquired for 0$/€ (=100% discount aka "free)) is approx 588 €/$

I disagree, I think in this case enough would be willing to pay $60 to where it's in GOG's best financial interest to get games day-1. Compared to day-1 buyers, I don't think as many will be willing to re-buy even at a discount (unless the GOG version ran better than Steam for some reason); I still think it's worthwhile to bring semi-old games like Bioshock Infinite at a discount because decent money (for a smaller biz like GOG) is probably made, but GOG getting a game like this would be a big financial boost since people would have the option to not buy on Steam day-1. There'll already be a lot of headlines about the game finally being free of EGS and maybe GOG could appear in the game news also if the game came here day-1.

maybe some thinking like "I'll choose GOG over Steam if the game appears there soon, but if it doesn't come to GOG I'll grab it from Steam. [few years later] I already own this on Steam, maybe I'll buy it on GOG in the future at a deep discount. And where's Connect?"

Will you get it on Steam even if it comes to GOG?

Depends on the price, patch support etc. I certainly wouldn't hesitate.

There's probably no way to know ahead of time how well patch support will be, but based on previous evidence GOG does suffer from lack of patches. Do you anticipate the GOG version being behind on patches based on this evidence and is this enough for you to buy the Steam version?

I mentioned that, do you feel that there are that many people like you, willing to buy a game at $60, day one, here on GOG?

I'd imagine that if there were, surely GOG and the developers/publishers would be interested in making it happen. Nobody would be against making money, but it feels like there are just to few people on GOG, to sustain a day one release schedule. Let's not forget that even the forums, are only used by a minuscule minority of GOG's customers.

EDIT: Actually the more I think about it, that wouldn't even be enough. Those people willing to buy day one, would need to buy multiple full-priced releases each year, in order to sustain such a release schedule. For example I bought Monster Boy and Bloodstained, day one, but that was it for me this year.

I generally don't buy from GOG these days. I've got everything I want. But the lack of patches doesn't help when something does come out.

I do feel that there are many people willing to buy big-budget "AAA" games here day-1 at $60, I can't count myself in because I don't have much money.

Now that said, here may not be enough of a userbase for publishers/developers to be interested in GOG releases day-1 (some profit but not enough for them to be interested). I thought we were focused on GOG themselves; can we both agree that it's pretty likely GOG would like to have "AAA" games here day-1 for the income?

Of course, just like how most of us would like to have more free time to play the games we've already bought. I'm sure GOG would also like to have more customers, but unfortunately that's not reality. And I think GOG are well aware of that, and they avoid pushing for day 1 releases too often.

But again, that is my impression, and only GOG could settle that one way or another.
You can try this by getting a $1 trial at Xbox Pass, which I've been doing. It's pretty but the pretty graphics are somewhat ruined by the blurry gasmask and I'm not sure I'm a fan of the post appocalpse world. The characters and writing is pretty good, so you do like the characters.

I still find most FPS disorenientating, they just don't seem natural.
Would be great if we got it here. We have the other Metros so I wouldn't understand the reasoning why not to include it.
I guess it will arrive here in 2033...
