Clickbaity title on that news article, but seems like Metal Gear Solid games are going to Steam. Would be shame if they would go only there and not GOG. Steam would be stealing the Good Old Games theme from GOG (although, Good Old Games isn't GOGs focus anymore these days, so maybe stealing that is fair game).

we got MGS and MG here, we had MGS 2, but that got yanked at some point.
To be fair, Steam isn't stealing anything. Publishers just want to release everything they can on the most popular store. GOG is really small compared to Steam so big-name publishers seemingly don't like to bother with GOG, perhaps for simplicities' sake and GOG just not really being worth the time and money for them.

I wonder if we only got Konami games here in the first place because CDP leveraged Cyberpunk2077 hype in GOG's favor. Same with Sony and Horizon Zero Dawn. Or hey, maybe GOG will get a new batch when Steam gets the MGS games.

Oh well, even if the missing MGS games don't show up here (and/or MGS2 doesn't return), it's nice we got them here in the first place. ([s]And hopefully GOG never gets another AAA game again and goes out of business and diiiiiiieeeeesss, because everyone is so spittingly angry and rage-filled at GOG, if the store finally shuts down they will finally lower their blood pressure.[/s])

Wait, MGS2 got pulled? How long ago, and do we know why?

Well rip, I know it wasn't exactly a stellar port, but it sucks that it got yanked.

Like over a year ago, because it used some kind of footage whose license expired.

November 2021.

According to Konami, it was licensing for select historical archive footage used in-game.

Ah, I see, thanks guys. I tried to use the search feature before asking but it's so broken it found no results for 'metal gear solid' at all.

I wonder if that's been resolved, the article the OP linked doesn't say which games are going to Steam or not.

Steam is not stealing anything, it is the publishers who have decided to sell their game via Steam and not gOg. And if you think that Good Old Games is a gOg thing only these days, you are wrong. There are today quite a lot of old classical games on Steam that are not on gOg, this will only be one more among many.
Steam isnt stealing anything but it is a shame. It does kind of make sense for them to release on steam as well since Steam already has Metal Gear Rising and Metal Gear Solid V.

Im guessing this is only MGS and MGS2, maybe MG1 and MG2. This could be to drum up hype and get some last sales in since its rumored that Konami is working on a remake for MGS and if it does well, I doubt people are buying MGS original.

I would prefer if MG rising came to GOG though in return. Also if all players can actually purchase these games.
That article is clickbaity rumor mill indeed, but if we end up getting these classics back, I'll be glad for it - more the merrier. MGS2 is still gone though and it's taking way too long. I held back from buying MGS1 until the sequel returns, but as of right now it seems that it's gonna be steam.

They've been doing that for a while now. Once GOG proved it was possible to make some money selling old games, the publishers basically went, "Well, gosh, if we can sell them on a small store, imagine how much we'd make if we sold them on the really big store?!" I would say GOG does still have a slight advantage in that their old games tend to work better than Steam's versions, mostly because Steam really doesn't give a crap about the user experience and mostly figures it's your job to get stuff working if there's a problem.
