Hello! I live in the US (California) and I'm a new addition to GOG (making the jump from console to PC). I tried making my first purchase earlier, but my payment was blocked by my bank, apparently because a lot of banks don't like Cyprus. I know I could call my bank and work it out, but even if I try to have them approve future payments, I frankly don't trust that there wouldn't be more problems with them down the road. I plan to use GOG regularly going forward, and I'm looking for the best method of payment so there won't be any issues. I've read that PayPal is the way to go, but beyond that I'm not sure how I should go about it, so I wanted to ask GOG users more knowledgeable than myself. Would it work well enough setting up PayPal to take funds from my bank, or is it more effective to add a balance to PayPal and just pay directly with that?

Thanks in advance!

Add balance to PayPal. Existing balances are treated differently than funds from bank, and are much less likely to cause problems. If you want to keep bank information out of the loop entirely, you can even buy prepaid cards from some major chains and load up a balance and go from there.

If you get your bank savvy to your wild Cyprusian economic antics you might not have much trouble as long as you buy infrequently, but thanks to GOGs incredibly arcane checkout system you may find - especially during sales which interest you - that you'd want to buy several things in rapid succession, and the Fraud Protection Ninjas would almost certainly be deployed For Your Protection(tm). Existing balance on PayPal is the best way to go.
I also have to second paypal. While I can pay woth my debit card, despite the purchase being in USD, the bank adds a 4% foreign currency conversion fee to any transaction with GOG. Paypal does not
GOG's wallet is nice and the two step identification system works now. Getting the money to the wallet I leave for others' suggestions.
Thank you all very much for your help!
