Here you go:
Adding external games to Galaxy.

That guide lets you add any game to Galaxy.

But most Steam games need Steam running before they'll start, so adding them to Galaxy would be kind of pointless if you're trying to get around using Steam.

If you add a Steam game to Galaxy you'll be:

1. Waiting for Galaxy to load.
2. Waiting for Steam to load.
3. Playing the game.

One may check it easily in Windows by launching both clients, opening Task Manager and comparing RAM usage.

Oh sorry about that. I can't really help beyond what those instructions already explain. GOG needs to add a way to do it from within Galaxy.

Some Steam games will work, just the ones that use Steam for DRM will want to load Steam first. You'll have to test which ones will be worth adding. I think there's also a thread on these forums with a list of DRM free Steam games.
No, you can't add non-Galaxy games to Galaxy. You can add previously downloaded GOG games to your Galaxy library, but that's it. You cannot add other DRM-free games or otherwise DRM'd games to the Galaxy library.

You can add anything you want to Galaxy, but that involves creating manually simple text file as described in the guide. Take Shogo (1.b) as a basic example.
You can even mess up with Galaxy gui if you know what you're doing : )
However, if you want games to start faster and save as much resources as possible, there is no point using any clients like Steam or Galaxy..
