Takes skill to drive like a nutter.

Ignition, a top-down racer in which the end-game is fun, is available now for Windows, Mac, and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com

Fun, fast, and weird... that's Ignition in a nutshell.

From buggies through school busses, an assortment of racers plows through twisty, jumpy, shortcutty (and absolutely unique) tracks! There's no regard for safety, no time to explain, certainly no time to hit the brakes ever. (Do grab a friend and make time for the split-screen mode!) It's all about the race the finish no matter the cost – which does tend to make for a jolly ol' time.

Swerve and speed through crazy tracks in crazier races with Ignition, DRM-free on GOG.com.

mav2000ger: In Germany, it was also known as "Bleifuss Fun"! Actually I got two German originals of this game!
"Fun Tracks" in Germany and France.

Thanks GOG, I really wanted this one! Sold!

IronArcturus: Does the game work with an Xbox 360 controller?
Not on my end.

Well, it works, but the menus get all fucked up and there are some awkward graphics bugs.
This is a classic. I believe most Swedish gamers back in 1997 owned or played this game at some point.

It is not a fantastic game however. You get exactly what you expect, a silly racing game. It isn't so much about skill or speed. In fact you'll find very little of either. What ties the game together is the many obstacles that make each race feel a little bit hysterical and tense. The novelty wears off and what you have left is a bare bones driving game.

Don't bother with controllers for this one, it is a PC title from the golden age of PC gaming. Keyboard controls is where it's at!
Sold! this looks like a great release. Thanks for bringing this one here!

OPstrator: I don't think, that this game had a DOS version, but maybe I am wrong.

Impaler26: Apparently there is a DOS version and we don't know which version GOG released:

OK, than from the screenshots I would say, they released the DOS version (judging by the info, that it can run on MacOS and Linux). Hope, that there is also a version in the package, that can be run with Glide graphics.
yaay, this is so cool! :) I always wanted to play this back in the day but my computer was way too slow... and look who's laughing now, Ignition! :D ha! in your face

Multiple paths, bouncy car physics, Hi-Lo manual transmission and a booster!

Added to my wishlist for now. Once I clear some of the backlog I will definitely pick this up!

Vainamoinen: Trackmania Original next!
+1

I've been waiting for this game a long time.... my patience has paid off.
Nice addition, GOG :)
It's funny that some of Interplay's more recent releases I would have loved to have played two decades ago. Now those games don't look nearly as good to me, i.e. Titus, Prehistorik, and Ignition. I found out the hard way on several occasions that just because I had fond memories of certain games, that nostalgia can be a real bitch sometimes as to what is actually still fun to play. Consequently, I'm quite cautious about buying old games these days, especially when I don't have any emotional connections to them.
