A true classic is back! The turn-based strategy gem titled M.U.L.E. from 1983 arrives on GOG.COM in all of its pixelated glory.

Developed by Danielle Bunten Berry and Ozark Softscape, this engaging turn-based strategy enabled four players to have fun at the same time. It is set on the fictional planet Irata (actually “Atari” spelled backward) and poses the gamers with a challenge in providing supply to the colonists.

To achieve success, you must not only compete against other players in gaining wealth and prosperity but also cooperate with them to ensure the survival of the colony. The key to winning the game is the acquisition and use of co-called Multiple Use Labor Elements, or M.U.L.E.s, to develop and harvest the planet’s resources.

To celebrate M.U.L.E.’s release we’re hosting a Weekly Sale of turn-based strategy games up to 90% off.

It's a legendary game, sure, but 10 bucks is almost insane pricing. I'll stay with Planet M.U.L.E. and Space Moguls for now.
Didn't even know that a PC version of M.U.L.E existed. Only played this on my old and trusty C-64 back in the days ...*sigh*
Mule? MULE? MULE!!!!!!!!!!
R$39.99... sure
I love the game and it's great to see another true classic on GOG, but that price seems a bit steep for me.
1983 oh , this is 20+years older than me

Wow...I don't mind being my age (40 years), but suddenly I feel a bit old... (laughs)

DoomSooth: I'll probably end up buying this but it would have been better to release the C=64 version just for the music. :)
And the graphics. :) (Seriously, the C64 version has actual colors and not this purple and cyan horror show, which makes it a lot more pleasant to look at.)

sanscript: What the heck?!? $7-9 for a game that is almost 40 years old and text-based?
In what way is it "text-based"? The graphics are, what is it, CGA mode or something? But they are graphics.

This old? It depends. If it were, say, a Nintendo cartridge, then I MIGHT have played some in the 80s, though I was also on my bike a lot and/or digging through the rocks in the one-meter-wide section between the sidewalk and the street. That might have jump-started my career in Anthropology, but who knows?

At any rate, I picked up on PC games right around the time that Jedi Knight came out, so...late 90s, I'd say.

I am almost 50, and was 11 when MULE came out. I do still play a bunch of those old games from time to time. To be honest you do need to have had some time playing those old games when they first came out or "nostalgia" or else they just seem outdated and nothing else. So I get what you are saying. I guess that happens with games from any generation eventually.

It IS a PC port. A PC booter disk version from about 1985.

https://www.mobygames.com/game/pc-booter/mule

Game runs on Dosbox, the game itself is contained as a "game.img" disk image. 180 kb game image. ^^

There is a scanned manual included, an about 3,6 MB big PDF file.

I must say it's great to see such old gem on GOG, but I think that this should be bundled with other Ozark games: Heart of Africa (even if it would be c46 rom), The Seven Cities of Gold (original), maybe Modern Wars.

I never heard or played this game and it's too much for this game alone. I have no problem with paying full price for old games, even if I never played it - just to support bringing back classics to GOG. I think i'd buy a bundle (as described above) for this price, but not MULE alone.

Edit:
I;ve just noticed that you have to pay more for MULE than for Seven Cities of Gold: Commemorative Edition which is ten years younger.
