In this game of thrones, you mutate or you die. Horribly.

Nuclear Throne, a wild roguelike where you mutate your way to the throne of a post-apocalyptic world, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com for Windows and Mac (with a Linux version also on its way).

Apocalypses tend to be volatile and unpredictable, but if there's one thing you can count on, it's that once they hit, there's going to be a chaotic struggle for supremacy. What better way to get ahead in this race than with flexible mutant powers and an overpowered arsenal at your disposal? The Nuclear Throne is ripe for the taking, so grab one of the 12 available characters, exploit their unique abilities, and exterminate your opponents. Mutate your limbs in imaginative ways and create incredibly fun combos (of powers and weapons) to survive the frozen cities, underground labs, and vast deserts filled with radiation-fueled enemies. Just make sure to wash your hands afterwards. Assuming you even have hands.

So go out on a limb here and let radiation grant you the power to claim the Nuclear Throne, DRM-free on GOG.com.

PLEASE NOTE: Daily and Weekly challenges are NOT available in the current version of the game but will be added in the future.
I don't get those marketing coups.

When will it actually be released?

Crosmando: You know, I wish I was wrong, but every day brings new examples of why I was right about GOG.

tfishell: Explain please?
I want to say it's a commentary on GOG's recent ongoing incompetence with respect to properly administering the website/forum.

avatar
rampancy: 13 hours and it's still not fixed. And here I though GOG's web team couldn't be more drunk...

I do remember that something similar happened with another game though, but I can't rightly remember.
avatar
Marioface5: I don't think there's anything to fix. The news post was probably just made early, and has been taken down. Chances are we'll see the game release for real either tomorrow or Thursday.
We could have had a blue text post a quick "Sorry, something happened and someone messed up on our end" to explain and own up to their mistake. That would have been nice.

They don't even seem to be able to release a game without screwing it up? GOG just seems to be run by amateurs.

GOG is too niche for its customers.

Interestingly and coincidentally, I found this little nugget:

Yeah, I'm wondering what the hold up is as well. Been waiting for this to release here.
We are not worthy of the Nuclear Throne.

Even Vita is worthy. :P

We are, however, evidently worthy of a podcast which isn't even a real podcast.

It's not?
What's different?

It's not available via RSS or iTunes, or through any other podcast directory or app. It's not even something you can download as an audio file for later playback offline on a mobile device or computer. It's just a Twitch stream that can be viewed later on YouTube. It's like they don't even know what a podcast actually is. As Crosmando mentioned earlier, it's like GOG is stuck in the middle of Amateur Hour.
