Nice! Been hoping to see this game show up over here on GOG for a while.
Thank you very much, i had this for a while in my wishlist.
Funny, I just watched Space Truckers a couple of days ago. But this game appears woefully short Charles Dance as a cyborg space pirate.
Victoria Terpsichore - Cowboy Bebop anyone? :)
I see, they never got rid of the 2D space concept. Sure, the game is 3D, but it's a farce of 3D given that you're often going though bespoke "lanes".

Here's the thing: Space is really, really big. Even if you're using gated travel, there's never a reason to fly thouigh an asteroid belt, or past a dangerous radiating star. Most objects in space are for all intents and purposes, in a stationary orbit; there's not a lot of wibbles to the wobble. And even if they are moving in and though space, the rate at which they do tends to be so slow as to be unobservable to the average viewer.

Sure, the entire solar system, and the entire arm of the Milky Way in which we live in has moved over the 30 years I've been alive, but I certainly haven't noticed.

If these were bulky, unarticulated trains with the turning radius of a SR-71 Blackbird at speed, sure.

I dunno, maybe the cheesy "trucker"/Lorry Americana doesn't appeal to me because as a passenger who used to regularly be ferried around 112+ km/h expressways, such things were the bane of safety as they were given unrealistic expectations and schedules, so it was barreling death machine or nothing, plus the culture they tended to cultivate was that of a rather benighted chawbacon type.

Maybe my idea of a good night's trucking in space is more shaped like a warmed up Cobra MK III, prepared for Hyperjump.

Not sure what you mean here. You are not ever forced to use the laneways, you can always take a direct path "cross country" to any gate and the gates are definitely not in a 2D plane, they can be up, down, sideways and anywhere between. Some have lanes linking them, some don't. The reason you may want to follow the lanes as much as possible is because they are free of debris and junk, so you can travel faster without damaging or rupturing your hull. Though most drop-off and pickup points are not right beside a lane.

The locations are generally industrial habitation zones- full of generations of space junk as a result. One of the major industries is asteroid mining...so yeah, when you deliver supplies to them you kinda do need to go through an asteroid belt. Of course it's exaggerated, they had to make a game out of it.

Anyway, I finished the story and put in around 40 hours all up. It started fun but did run out of steam after a bit, you soon see everything the game has to offer- then it's more of the same. All the same though, I enjoyed it, and it is a good effort for just a team of only a handful of people.

Maybe less emphasis on the "traffic" or "star lanes" would have been a sight for the promotional materials.
Game looks interesting. I am pretty tempted to get it...

The "look" of the world brings to mind Freelancer; an old favorite of mine.

It had "space lanes" and "gates"; but you didn't have to use them. But there were advantages to doing so (such as no debris, no "pirate" attacks (well...), and faster speeds).

As far as the "it's not really 3d" (is it more like 2.5D'ish?) - every "space game" has necessary limitations. That alone would put me off.

Looks tempting. Might go for it (extra 5% off via an emailed offer).
