War just came back home.

<span class="bold">World in Conflict</span>, a beautiful love-letter to tactics and explosions, is available now on Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com

A hail of artillery pierces tanks and grocery stores, as homes, terrified men, and boys burn under sheets of napalm. Retreat? Never. These are your homes - and you've said your goodbyes fifteen seconds ago. A stunning flash engulfs the now radioactive pit formerly known as Jamestown High and for a few seconds there is silence. But the battle rages on, a dozen blocks down, and your attention is needed elsewhere.

World in Conflict is one of a kind, really. It's an RTS that succeeded in becoming both action-oriented and incredibly tactical, easily accessible but challenging, and a beautiful spectacle of war. It wasn't the first to do many of the things that make it brilliant, but the combination of small-scale tactics on huge battlefields, and the sheer destructive force at your fingertips is unlike any other. You're put in control of a small squad of infantry, tanks, air support or artillery - just one part of a larger clash. Dynamic single-player missions will take you through the various roles and locations in every battle, keeping you constantly at peak intensity as you defend the United States from an onslaught of enemy forces - and then execute a counter-attack in the Soviet Assault expansion.

Commander - three minutes until the second nuke is primed.

The bonds of war and terrifying firepower at your fingertips, <span class="bold">World in Conflict</span> is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com

I just love it when I'm able to do that =))
Great release!

It would be sweet to have more language options though - the German DVD version supported more than just English and the German translation and voice acting was very well done! As we have many Ubisoft titles with more than language available I don't really see a licensing problem here.

<spoiler>That's what I said when the game made me as US commander launch an A nuke on US soil (even on US soldiers). *troll*</spoiler>

Klumpen0815: The fate of most German game studios. Producing stuff here ist just too expensive due to taxes, high rent, etc...
Silver Style Studios was dissolved last year so getting "The Fall: Last days of Gaia" here may be even more complicated, I guess. :(

Hecke: You could try to get the GameStar 12/2009 to get The Fall.
I have the GameStar Disc 12/2009, that's why I know this game. ;)

wolfsrain: Deep Silver owns only the Rush titles. No one knows where the Codename Panzers: Phase One and Phase Two ended up - CDV had the publishing rights
I could have sworn they were published by Deep Silver. But now that you mention it, CDV rings a bell. Wiki says so too. And CoH seems to be owned by SEGA now. Sorry for the confusion. I should have double checked before posting.
I'm really P/O'd about this. I had the first game and bought this to get the expansion: Soviet Assault. Little did I know that you can only play this expansion as the Soviets!

I only ever play these kinds of games on the western democracy side...not the collectivist thugs (which includes the Communists & the Nazis). I amused myself for a while by seeing how badly I could eff-up the Soviet attacks (calling air and artillery strikes on my own positions, sending a platoon of repair tanks on an assault, etc.) But the game doesn't let you lose and move on. It just keeps giving you more units and nothing you do effects events outside the battlearea or for the next set of orders. It forces you to keep repeating the same mission until you "win".

I know this occurs in the "other side" scenarios but it wasn't all that apparent since I was actually trying to win. Doing a bit of role playing helps as well. But I will not role play as a Soviet officer. Nyet!

So this expansion is going to be removed.

But you do know that it's a game, right? Something that allows you take a different perspective on things, without any consequences in real life (like i.e. joining the local Nazi group).

You know that NAZIs (It's an acronym) weren't collectivist, right? And Stalin's collectivism was code for feudalism, right?
Tremendous release. GOG has been on a roll this year!! :D
anyone else having huge problems to play WiC without galaxy?
I am able to run it once after installation and then it won't start anymore.
Running on Windows 10
I'd bet its due to some problems with the .exe because even with GOG Galaxy it just launches if I start it over the galaxy interface, not the .exe

Normally any required serial numbers should be on the account page when you select the game, I think there is even an extra entry when you open the menu, where you can access the store page, changelog etc.

edit:
It the the "more" drop down menu, there should be an entry for the serial.

Then you should contact support, in some cases you need to ask them to send you a serial key for mp. I think I needed to do this for Neverwinter Nights.

edit:
Please try to access the game page outside of Galaxy and on the web page under account. If it is not there contact the support.
