Yes this is a question. But let me elaborate.
It's been a while now (a couple of months) that my sound system (a Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium, I think) goes ptschskrr in the following very specific circumstances :
- Listening to music through Foobar2000.
- Listening to music through WinAmp.
- Playing Knights of Honor.
It doesn't shhkrrpt at all when :
- Listening to music through VLC.
- Listening to music through QuickTime player.
- Listening to music through Foobar2000 or WinAmp while an instance of VLC or QuickTime is open.
I suppose the issue is software-related, I wonder if it's windows-update-related, I suspect it's solvable somehow. But I find its symptoms regularity troubling, in a method-in-madness way.
Is the cause totally completely immediately obviously obvious to someone ?
