Zimerius: Thank goodness, now i can stop pondering if i should add links or reviews to the already so far of the path taken blood origin discussion. For your & and maybe other participants benefit;-) ofc.
Yes we have gone too far off-topic. Sorry about that folks.
If you want to continue with our discussion after this reply, maybe start another thread. That said, this is your thread.
Zimerius: I have to say, i benefitted myself too. For some reason, one of the greats came popping up during my attempts of writing a witty response - see the failure? - namely - the Worm Ouroboros. I just now found( after opening google to se if i remembered the writers name correct) out that this classic is more or less a prequel to three other novels written by the master E.R. Eddison himself and compared favourably to Mervyn Peake’s Gormenghast. tbh though, i did pick up the Gormenghast trilogy once on a book convention, not knowing about how it is perceived, but men. That was a strange, weird novel. Never managed to finish. The style felt so out of bounds with what i was used too. Anyway, i would gladly spend money on such a pursuit then give any new writer a decent chance.
I guess, if you want a decent sci fi or fantasy read you should really stay away from the modern day.
I've read the Worm Ouroboros, but not sure if I finished it at the time, way back when, because as good or weird as it was, it was a tougher read than the Lord Of The Rings. I intend to read it again one day, as well as the trilogy. Both have been sitting in my bookcase for years.
I've also read Gormenghast, and loved it. Very funny and gloomy and gothic and science fantasy and weirdness all rolled into one. A true classic and total masterpiece.
Zimerius: With that said, i also just located the witcher books, decently priced 8 - 10 hours read, curious to see how they will 'perform'
Alas my youngest son owns the books, and he is still stuck on Book 2, has been for years now ... lost his reading Mojo and would rather play games. Recently he has said I can now read it any time I want, but other books have my priority right now. It is a running joke in the family with him - Have you finished the Witcher Book Two yet? Almost the same running joke with his older sister, who is yet to read the 4th Eragon novel ... which I am also up to and she owns ... I did recently buy the whole series and more in ebook though. They are reading physical books.
Anyway, lets not continue off-topic here maybe ... though at least The Witcher does get a slight mention. LOL
