Before every self-professed phd holder in cybersecurity comes out of the woodworks to proselytize to me how my anti-virus is trash and is giving me false positive, the latter being true, and that I should get something else you should understand this - my problem is not about security per se.

I am not absurd enough to say that a company should be perfect and without faults from the very start; ALL have rough starts with many misshaps to lesser or greater degrees. But when almost a DECADE passes and the problem still persists, then as far as I am concerned something is going wrong. Out of curiosity I searched for topics on trojans and viruses coming from the galaxy client, and they seem to go as far back as 2010 and I can find one for every year after. How this is not a severe pr problem for you people is very baffling to me.

We live in an age where we are told and assured over and over and over, again and again, that company X cares deeply about our privacy and protection, and has more than enough security to deal with pretty much anything. Then a gigantic company like google has a massive data breach involving gmail, facebook secretly selling/sharing private information, nord vpn gets hacked, sony ps4 gets hacked, and so on and so forth. And when I get a game from a platform that has been having this trojan/virus false positive issue for 9 years or more, and am probably about to be told to mark the files as exceptions and move on, no. This bs doesn't fly with me.

I've never encountered this issue on any other gaming platform (or whatever category it falls into to), but here it seem to be a very old problem that continues to persist, hence you have lost my trust and you have lost me as a client.

virus detectors are constant lee prone to f/p due to constant database updates
this is why most detections are flagged as generic

stop bein' a crybaby

Seeing your join date, it appears you were never a client/customer in the first place. Likely you should do some research on software development so you can better understand why there are false positives.

Yeah well.
1. Tell that to the devs of overly eager AV software. False positives are always the fault of the AV.
2. There (to my knowing) NEVER has been a case of actual malware here on GOG.
3. Same elsewhere: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=site%3Asteamcommunity.com+false+positive&atb=v104-1&ia=web

You are afraid of Trojans in your PC?

Could be worse! Could be SPARTANS!

Would at least keep the pesky Persians at bay!
kthxbye
OP, so what are you asking for, exactly?

GOG should force your crappy AV company to stop listing GOG files as having viruses even though they don't?

How is that GOG's problem?

How would you expect GOG to do that anyway?

You should post your complaint where it belongs: on the forums of your crappy AV company. Or you should email/phone them.

What you are talking about is in no way GOG's problem.

Id it's a false positive why are you worried? Seems like you should report the issue to your AV maker, or use a different one maybe.

If they have no games it could be a steam user coming to make false accusations.

Hmm .. I think maybe OP might have a PHD in Drama. ;)
Your antivirus is trash and probably doesn't even need to be installed at this point.

Do you really thing GOG would exist, at all if they even accidentally slipped a virus into their software?

They'd be wiped off the map before you could comment on the apology video by litigious hordes.

Nice.
Steam is sending their agitators again...
