Wow, so many suggestions and great points, thanks everyone! I guess I'll start with some of the older ones and work my way up.
More recommendations always welcome. Thanks again for taking the time and showing a noob around!
timppu: Yeah there are probably different things people like in RPGs (as well as other genres), but to me saying one wants an CRPG which is light on "grinding" (I presume that means "levelling up" and "developing your character(s)") is like looking for a point&click adventure game which is not that much about solving puzzles. I guess that would leave some kind of walking simulators, or the hidden object games?
Luned: To me, grinding in an cRPG is having to go fight a large number of "trash mobs" outside of the main + side quest structure
solely to be able to be powerful enough to complete the main quest. If I'm forced to abandon the plotline altogether for hours on end (rather than that kind of "go pick a random fight with someone" being optional content for those who enjoy squeezing every last stat/XP point & gear tweak out of a game), it can get annoying when I'd rather be advancing the storyline. If I'm following side quests because they're interesting little stories in and of themselves to gain the XP, I don't feel so much like I'm "grinding".
Exactly. I don't mind a hardcore game and I'm happy to immerse myself in a world for 60 hours, I just don't want most of these hours spent in random click fests. Strategy/action games already do those well enough IMHO, so I'm here for the immersion and expanding my imagination.
