Atlantico: Northern Cyprus isn't a country recognized by anyone. Except Turkey. The rest of your post, well I don't disagree with most of it, but it's too jaded and edgy for my taste.

bayzent: That just means their sponsors are not as influential politically as, say, the ones of Kosovo...nothing more, nothing less...I don't think it would be too much of a stretch to say that a country sponsored by, let's say, France, would have a wider international recognition that one sponsored by, let's say, Sierra Leone...

Sorry if I sound cynical, but understand that in the EU North and South have had a very different experience, so it seems logical we come to severely different conclusions...

It is hard not to be drowsy when your Government tells you it's going to take 3.900 Syrian refugees and give them 600€/month plus pay their kids education and their living costs, while you see that many families around you have to go to soup houses to feed themselves after they finish a full time job, and then read people telling me how we Europeans are so privileged and outsiders coming to Europe are all so poor and in need of help, I hope at least you'd give me that.
Hey you've got every right to be cynical, I'm cynical just in a different way. I usually suspect incompetence before malevolence, that's all :)

A funny story, the lieutenant governor of California was beating his chest over the amazing achievement that California was doing their part in taking in Syrian refugees, 10% of all Syrian refugees coming into the US. When asked how many exactly, he replied 282 people.

In my country we are going to take 10 times what California is taking, with our population of 220 thousand. California has 38.8 million people and is part of the country that is causing the Syrian refugee crisis.
Skimmed through the thread.

1. Bunch of uninformed hipsters on a UN bashing spree. Let's time travel to somewhere around 1996-2003 and snark about how incompetent Bill Gates is while we're at it. Shallow insubstantial ranting.

2. Everyone who used words like wahabbism or sharia is a fucking idiot. There, I emphasised with the F-word. You have no idea what those words mean either in spirit or in practice. You do understand that militant islamism is born from opposition to Saudi law and leadership? Al-qaeda and Daesh (ISIL) are anti-Saudi, which is why they dream of a new theological utopia and attract every scumbag they can find to do the dirty ground work terrorising and robbing whole populations. Saudi Arabia may have been founded on the ideas laid out by Wahab, but much has happened since. Saudi law is just that, Saudi law. It is not a straight adaptation of the Qur'an and much of it is not rooted in religion. A lot of the problems come from a very poorly structured government and infrastructure.

Law making is a mess, some ground rules were laid in the 30's when the country was still tribal and they just don't work for the growth we have today. The decisions a government has to make today are not something a few old men can decide in a couple of town meetings, they require research and second opinions. Saudi Arabia is a country with little regard for workers rights and women's rights because decisions are clubbed hastily by non-experts or old men with their heads in the sand. Why ban women from driving? Well it is an easy but very blunt tool to avoid having to deal with other potential problems that can crop up if women are alone outside the home. Writing laws for men like myself? Sure, thats easy, I know my limits. Women? I dunno, wouldn't it be easier if we restricted them from everything that could go wrong? Lock them in their homes, that will take care of most eventualities!

Reality is though, Saudi people are as human as anyone else and they break the law all the time. They have progressive and realistic thinking activists making slow progress. They have violent criminals that commit robberies and rape despite the threat of capital or corporal punishment. Hell, kids are still drifting in traffic even after a law was passed that any driver that causes a fatal accident while drifting is to be beheaded.

Still, western media only pick up on outlier cases where the application of law goes wrong or leads to stupid or deplorable sentences (such as rape victims being charged with admitting adultery while the suspect is cleared of charges). Also, people on the internet with violent fetishes rant about shit they don't understand or from their own violent fantasies about certain ethnicities or religions help contribute to the disinformation.

Appointing a Saudi national this title is to throw the nation a hot potato. Here, deal with it. It is not like the issue needs to be raised in countries with already functional laws.

That was hilarious. Reading your statement is like hearing some woman on TV trying to make excuses for her problem child and hearing voices from a protest mob defending a blatant violent criminal who was killed by authorities that say "He dindu nuffin."

You are making excuses for a regime that encourages enforcement of a tyrannical religion built around rape, mass murder, and subjugation in the name of some god that might as well as be a desert demon if it truly existed. It is Swedes like you that result in Sweden getting flooded by third world degenerates who sexually assault and even rape Nordic women and who riot and shout out "RACISM!!!" whenever things don't go exactly their way or when people wise up point out how the degenerates get for "free" what others have paid heavily into with tax money, labor, and blood.

By the way, of course ISIS would love to remove the regime of Saudi Arabia. They want to be in charge of the Arabian Peninsula and not the Saudi royal family.

Go back to LiveLeak or Stormfront and take your violence inciting artwork with you.
I told you if you were going to take the tank out you need to fill it up with gas before you come back!
i read all about it.... eu is having its fair share aswell...
i dont know if all dutch news is also available in english, but i do know that
dijselbloem is complaining a lot in dutch language about how tough it is for the netherlands, germany, france, and belgium to keep up with all the incoming.... and that these are on their own , and the only ones who are having thousands people coming in ...

he talks about bad for the eu, bad for the euro, bad for economy and more , he doesnot say it with that may words but he is telling that these countries he mentioned are already beiing saturated with incoming people snd that these countries cant take any more without getting serious problems.

so big shites is comming to all of us and we cant do anything about it, then just let our govs decide
to take all of it and maybe we will all tumble in a big crisis we can never recover from, we are only the inhabitants and have no saying in anything so thats why we dont say anything and just take all of it silently.

we can only sigh; * sigh *

Violence-inciting? More like common sense. There is such thing as justifiable violence and I am all for it. I'll take your reply as a compliment.

Ignorance is bliss or something like that, that is why I think we should be kinda careful with what Americans ask us to do, they don't always have the clearer view of the matters at hand, especially when things so far from their lands happen. I also find hilarious how we Euros have been asked to take about 30 Million of a country of 18 Million. Hey we have to also take all those "Syrian refugees" from Afghanistan and Iraq apparently (still wondering how many "Syrian refugees" are the other Sunni countries taking btw, I know Jordan is taking some and Saudi Arabia had taken a couple they were using as slave lab...I mean, happy totally free workers, but haven't heard of anybody else)

They do a very very very bad job at this being Anti Saudi don't they?

"Writing laws for Aryans like myself? Sure, thats easy, I know my limits. Jews? I dunno, wouldn't it be easier if we restricted them from everything that could go wrong? Lock them in Camps under our supervision, that will take care of most eventualities"

Sorry to make a Godwin here, but hope you get why your argument is bullshit. Unfathomability is not an excuse, hell they should know women better than we do, don't they have four wives for every man? that's three more subjects of study than every man that is not a Mormon.

Nobody said they are not. Nobody denies Pol Pot is human, but you won't find many people saying that being biologically human excludes him from being a bloodthirsty monster. Same case here. And no, the fact that most Arabs are, according to you, criminals with no regard to justice or law doesn't make it any bit better. If anything I can perfectly say that if they don't respect their own country's laws, nothing says they would respect my country's laws, so, what are we waiting to blacklist them and forbid them to travel to Europe?

Thing is, here in the normal part of the World, we don't have a need to subscribe for laws calling to maim and amputate limbs of other people for committing crimes, nor do we call for Crucifixion of them either. We don't need to write laws saying that women who commit adultery have to be stoned to death...that kind of thing. We are not outraged about Saudi Arabia's doing that stuff, we are outraged at them considering this normal and a perfect legal system. We also don't have a need to ban Snowmen because they are "lustful"...seriously when your country laws make less sense than the ones of North Korea, you know you should not be legislating anything.

And yet the UN has a huge tendency to get itself in countries with already functional laws. Thankfully nobody with a bit of sense pays heed to them anymore, and with very very very good reason I might add. Also while we are at it, the Yugoslavian Wars were a huge bloody error.

Turkey and Lebanon took serious numbers; to the point of not being able to allow more even if they wanted to. Then Germany and the Scandinavian countries also took a lot. Saudi Arabia too less than 5000 I believe.

To be fair, even America's relationship with Human Rights is defined as "complicated"...and out of all of us they technically would be the ones having them closer to heart, so...let's not hurry to point fingers here.

Thanks, I heard they took about 10.000 but then after Daesh burned alive that Jordan pilot they started crucifying some of them in the frontiers or something like that. I don't think they crucified 5.000, so they probably took less, crucified about 20 and called it a day.
