ColaPoweredGamer: This probably a good move, and they can polish the game a bit. Honestly, I'm not excited for this game, after that whole BS controversy and what not. Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines was a good game, and the sequel has a lot to live up to, but I'm hoping they won't make a totally bad game, and that it will be at least somewhat enjoyable.

GameRager: Or they could use the time to add a bunch of publisher/focus group stuff which might ruin parts of the game.....we don't know for certain.

Imo they shouldn't worry so much about what other competitor is releasing what and when & just sell when the game is ready.
Yeah, I don't think this delay had anything to do with Cyberpunk's or DOOM's release dates. That's probably just what they said: making sure to polish the game and to limit the number of bugs. This is not a Bethesda RPG game, where people tend to be more lenient. Aside from technical concerns, they promised branching, reactive storytelling... if there were too many story-wise, relatively big 'bugs' regarding that, I'm afraid the fans would be too eager to point them out ostensibly.

True, but bugs will exist no matter what no matter how much they polish, and sometimes new bugs spring up when old ones are squashed as well.

Also sometimes some devs like to add unneeded stuff when they have extra time that only the focus groups/execs seem to want, or the devs think people want.

In the end, I will be happy if the game is good enough for me...even if others dislike it/pan it/etc.
EDIT: Forget about my reply, will try again later when I'm not that sleepy to handle quotes here haha.

Ok, reposting...

Sure, bugs will always exist. But I believe with more time (of course, with setting roadmaps, deadlines, etc), bugs can be more limited in their influence as well as their numbers, overall. BUT. I'm not a game dev, just a... 'kind of a programmer' :) , so take my comments with a pinch of salt.

I wouldn't know that (see above me not being a game dev), I guess I have to trust on their leadership in that regards.

Fair enough. :)

EDIT: Ok, I think I finally *got* the quoting system here haha.

I would, though....albeit slightly from what i've heard of other game dev cycles......many times execs/publishers will push for things to be added to a game which are popular/test well in focus groups.....sometimes they work out but often they mess some aspects of the game up.

Yes,m you sure seem to have done just that.
See you later Ally vampire!

darthspudius: I'm not buying into the hype to be honest. I've seen nothing to convince me of a good product so far.
Are there any games you've actually liked in the past 10 years?
I can't believe Cyberpunk is supposedly April - didn't realize that one was so close as well.

Going to be a tough finding time for all that gaming next summer ;)

I can barely find time for all the old gaming I have built up to finish or replay. ;D
