Something I'll probably never understand is people who collect sealed Warhammer 40K sets. Unlike things like collectible figures, you can't display and appreciate such boxes except for their box art, because they're just packs of unbuilt pieces. I've bought unopened boxes a few times and opened them, because model kits are for building. Similarly, if I get my hands on new-on-sprue components that are 25 years old, you can bet I'm going to build the model. (And, while I'm at it, I'll clip off the slotta and base it on a modern base size.) I might even convert it, though I generally like to have at least one copy of an original model; I found I quite liked how classic Guardian models look with modern heads:

Anyway, I've got a few of the classic 1993 Space Marines, so I'm going to have fun with them:

Linko90: Pretty sure we're getting new sisters this year? As for female Primaris...i don't like it due to lore
OK, I'm not a superfan, but I don't see the lore reason not to be able to hack together female primaris - they're already so inhuman it's not like it much matters, does it? I know it's not done, but neo-Guilliman is sort of the New Testament of 40k - doesn't really seem like he's all that interested in keeping things as they are. Anyway, what's the lore reason for not liking female primaris? I tried to watch the video from above but that dude's voice is like alcohol, ketamine, and vicodin all at once.

I would only be disappointed if they got different armor. You want boobplate, that's what the sisters of battle are for. Marines are fungible so unless they've got a helmet off it shouldn't even be obvious what their jangly bits look like.
This is a proud Ultramarine warrior. He is certainly not an Alpha Legionary who has gunned down an Ultramarine and stolen his armour.

GAMES WORKSHOP AND FRANK SPOTNITZ TO CREATE LIVE-ACTION WARHAMMER 40,000 TV SERIES.

Games Workshop and Big Light Productions announce development of a live-action Warhammer 40,000 TV Series, Eisenhorn.

For Immediate Release

17th July 2019

Games Workshop and Big Light Productions jointly announced today development of Eisenhorn, a live-action science-fiction and fantasy television series. Frank Spotnitz (The Man in the High Castle, The X-Files) will act as both showrunner and Executive Producer on the series, which will be based on the wildly popular Warhammer 40,000 games, miniatures and novels.

The genre-bending series is set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, where mankind teeters on the brink of annihilation. While humanity’s armies wage unending war across a million battlefields, in the darkness, a secret conflict rages – fought by the agents of the Imperial Inquisition. Drawing from sci-fi, fantasy and crime genres, Eisenhorn will see Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn and his band of investigators fight to thwart the monstrous schemes of aliens, heretics and daemons before mankind’s doom is sealed.

Warhammer 40,000 is a worldwide phenomenon, with miniatures, tabletop games, video games and novels sold online and in more than 5,000 retail locations around the globe. Warhammer 40,000 has a passionately devoted fanbase who revel in the setting’s intricate lore and engaging narrative, visiting Games Workshop’s websites more than 100 million times and racking up more than 50 million views of Warhammer TV video content last year alone.

Games Workshop is the company behind the globally recognised Warhammer 40,000 brand and a household name within geek culture, while Big Light Productions is the award-winning international production company whose credits include Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle, Medici on Netflix and Ransom on CBS.

The Eisenhorn series is based on novels written by New York Times bestselling author Dan Abnett (Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men, The Horus Heresy). Originally published in 2001 by Black Library (Games Workshop’s publishing imprint), the books have been reprinted in multiple languages and sold over half a million copies globally.

Big Light Productions’ creative director, Emily Feller (Ordinary Lies, Trust Me, Medici) will also serve as an Executive Producer on the series.

Frank Spotnitz, series showrunner and Big Light Productions CEO, said: “We are delighted to collaborate with Games Workshop to develop the beloved visionary world of Warhammer 40,000 into a TV series. Warhammer 40,000 is steeped in rich and complex lore, with a myriad of traditions and stories that have accumulated over time in this thrilling and complex world, making it one of the most exciting properties to adapt for television audiences and the franchise’s loyal global fanbase. There is nothing else like it on television, and we are incredibly excited to tap into our own experience creating imaginative, complex and compelling worlds to bring this incredible saga to the screen.”

Andy Smillie, Games Workshop’s Global Head of Marketing & Media, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Frank and his team at Big Light. Warhammer 40,000 has a massive global fanbase – they are a passionate community of Warhammer hobbyists who love to engage with our characters, stories and games. I’m truly delighted we are able to develop a show that will reward their loyalty. Inquisitor Eisenhorn represents one of the best-loved characters within our worlds, and we’re excited to share his exploits and adventures with audiences new and old. Frank and his outstanding team at Big Light have done amazing things with other properties, bringing complex worlds to the screen, and we can’t wait to see what our partnership produces for the grim darkness of Warhammer 40,000.”

Author Dan Abnett said: “Gregor Eisenhorn is a relentless force in the dark future of the Warhammer universe: a destroyer of daemons and a purger of heretics, implacable, powerful and dedicated. But the appeal to me, from the moment I started writing him, was his complexity. He is not the simple, ruthless hero he appears to be. His battle with the Warp leads him into dark places and forces him to question his duty, his understanding of the Imperium, and his own identity. With Eisenhorn, it’s not just the adventures, and they are certainly vivid: it’s the journey he takes to the very limits of what he is and what it means to be loyal.”

Death of Hope Part 1: Anarchy Reigns

Everything on screen I've built from scratch. Characters environments etc, which is why it takes so dam long for me to make these but well worth it as it brings the universe to life. I've fleshed out the whole story so pans for the next two I've already got down.

I'm still learning and plan to learn facial capture for part 2 and 3. 4 more years of this XD well see what happens.

If you like the kinda stuff I do you can visit

Hey dudes and dudettes,

The animation is tolerable. I'm no animator and I absolutely HATE doing it. Never even written a story outside of school way back when. The fact I even try is a miracle. Then why do it? I love this universe and I do this because the "old" fandom needs it especially today. My purpose is to show the universe in detail through my eyes especially for those of us who fell in love with this style decades ago while introducing new fans to something a little different if they haven't ventured off into the darker parts of the universe.

What I can promise is that each release gets better as i'm learning this shit. The trailers before this are testament to my growth. Moving into this year I can replace this potato PC for a better rig and can push the boundaries even more for part 2 and the combined years of experience after that making part 3 amazing as hell.

Hope you enjoyed and will keep you updated. I sacrifice a massive amount of my life to do this. Me over here working at it for years and with the added magic of VAs and music as the cherry on top.

Thanks for watching and hope you enjoyed getting your emotions all wired.

Just why are the Blood Angels battling in space? How cool is that Blood Angels ship commander? When will you get to see more? Stay tuned here and on the Warhammer Storyforge Instagram page for more news.

Angels of Death isn’t the only project in the works right now. The Warhammer universes are amazing, diverse places and the Storyforge team are exploring all sorts of art and animation styles. So, if you fancy a tease of things yet to come, check out this amazing frame from a forthcoming project in a very different style.

How incredibly lifelike is this shot? The matted blood, the faded tattoo? Check out the ageing on the scar bisecting her top lip. Speaking of her, our subject is clearly a Sister of Battle (the clue’s in the iconic haircut and tattoo)… but who or what is she fighting?

And here’s something else to look at…

Introducing the Next Wave of Warhammer Animations

warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/cUXaoH62EZ0RzriG.jpg

Astartes is great, isn’t it? Stunningly rendered Space Marines unflinchingly delivering the Emperor’s justice and looking badass while doing it.

Haven’t seen it yet? Well, the good news is that you don’t have to go far to find it. It’s right here on Warhammer Community.

The Warhammer Animation Team were so impressed that they reached out to Syama, the talented individual behind Astartes, and suggested he come aboard as part of the extended team. A huge Warhammer fan, Syama was enthusiastic about the prospect of making official Warhammer content.

"[I’m] super excited for Astartes to transition to an official project! I never would have thought this would be happening, and I can’t thank the amazing fans enough for their encouragement. It’s been my dream to animate Warhammer 40,000 ever since playing Space Crusade as a kid, and I’m pumped to work with the real deal Warhammer guys at Games Workshop to bring the fans the best Astartes action possible."

- Syama Pedersen

That’s right, by the time you’ve finished reading this article, development work will already have begun on a follow-up to Astartes.

And that’s not all. It turns out Syama isn’t the only passionate Warhammer fan making incredible animations. We’re thrilled to announce the Warhammer Animation Team are working with Lost Legion Studios on The Exodite, with PaxelArt on Primaris: The Last Templar, and with Codex Film on Iron Within.

warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/hCs3pzSHSoSDqED1.jpg

"We at Lost Legion Studios are excited to finally reveal that we’ve been working alongside the Warhammer Animations Team to produce The Exodite! Originally, we were a fan project making content for the community, and to be able to make something official is a dream come true, and we can’t wait to share it with you."

- Lost Legion Studios

warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/N24d39vnNpo87Mo7.jpg

"We are proud to say that we are working with Games Workshop on a short cinematic series about the Black Templars Space Marines. It is an honour for us to work in a universe we love so much, together with its creators. We want to say a huge thank you for this opportunity, Games Workshop."

- PaxelArt

warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/FRkJuFV15rz2Jzqo.jpg

"As long-time Warhammer fans, we’re very excited to combine our passion for the Warhammer hobby with our experience in CGI. It was a surreal feeling when Games Workshop approached us. It brings a lot of new possibilities, and we can’t wait to deliver this story of Iron Warriors and Drukhari to the community!"

- Codex Film

And there’s more! Several other collaborations are in the early stages of development, as well as two brand new shows (in addition to Hammer and Bolter, Angels of Death, and Interrogator) having been scripted and sent into production.

You’ll have to wait a little longer for more news on these. In the meantime, though, join us as we take a first look at The Exodite.

bcove.video/3eskiQz

Awesome, right?

A T’au Empire fleet, a stealth suit, some advanced map-tech, and was that a Kroot warsphere?!

We haven’t seen much of the T’au in animation before – it’s a very different aesthetic from the gothic warrior-culture of much of the Imperium, but not without its own mysterious quasi-mystic ways. Forget about culture, though; we can’t wait to see that battlesuit’s fusion blaster in action!

We’ll have more on The Exodite tomorrow, including a rundown of the story and a closer look at some of the shots. And there’ll be a new article every week that will keep you up to date with all the latest Warhammer animation news, giving you the lowdown on Primaris: The Last Templar, Iron Within, and all the others.

Now, there’s one last question that we’re sure you’re dying to have answered: “How will I be able to watch all of these great shows, and when will they be released?” We’ll have more news on all of that really soon. For now, you’ll want to make sure you have a My Warhammer account set up and ready to go.

Get your eyeballs ready – there’s a whole lotta Warhammer coming your way.

PoppyAppletree: and my own custom chapter), Chaos Space Marines (currently Black Legion, Iron Warriors, Word Bearers,
Hi. One question: Is it allowed to create special mechanics or rules for player's custom chapters? Or you are allowed just to consider them a variation of a canonic chapter?

Also I hear that every time they change the game rules, some times they favour long range and thence punish people who play Orks, and sometimes the opposite. I have heard people who play Orks complaining bitterly. Then again, their only tactic was charging and that was all. I guess that Games Workshop just wants to keep the game interesting or fresh. Although evil tongues say that they want to make people buy new miniatures that somehow fix the defficiencies in armies caused by the changes in the rules.

A fascinating world. Feel free to share your thoughts!
