lolinc: Although, I have to say, I thought stealth was interesting in Daggerfall because of the highly variable speed-control of movement with the mouse; I think all the other TES games you had sneak, walk, and run speeds. . . just three speeds. So, in Daggerfall, sometimes, you had to be reeeeeaaaalllllly sneaky, and just move that mouse cursor up 1/8" of an inch or something. . . move a tad too fast, make a little too much noise, and well, you're dungeon-tots. I really liked that feature in Daggerfall. Stealth never quite became an exploit, like it did in the other TES games.
I also liked pick-pocketing in Daggerfall; it was a really easy way to amp your agility. . . really the only reason to have that skill, other than the funny things you'd find in a vampire ancient's pocket, like bat guamo. It was a goofy skill. . . but pickpocketing is petty and goofy intrinsicly.
Anyway, that's how I remember it.
The thing I don't like about stealth in Daggerfall is that you can't turn it off; the way I play, I would rather have enemies see me and start attacking than be stealthy, and the game doesn't let you make that choice.
(This also comes up with the Dodging skill; raising that skill lowers your accuracy according to UESP, and there's no way to turn it off or prevent it from rising (other than avoiding situations where enemies get to make attack rolls against you, which I would rather not do).)
Also, why isn't this topic on the Elder Scrolls series subforum?
(Another thing: I haven't been able to get invisibility spells to do anything in either Daggerfall or Battlespire (though enemies can use it in the latter and they're functional for enemies, making them disappear from the screen but still attack you).)
