Hi,
Just installed GOG today, and I was wonering if there is a Wallet redeem code like on Steam? It would be nice to just go to a store and buy the credit and not use card.

Highly unlikely. GOG is simply to small for that.
There are, however, a couple third-party options. Paysafecard sounds very similar to what you're looking for, you can find cards in various convenience stores. There is also Paypal, but I don't know if you can purchase cards to fill up such accounts.

I hope that GOG doesn't get greedy like Steam is becoming. Native XP games are still on steam with no way to access them without hacking of some sort. I just downloaded a offline installer for Far Cry because of losing steam support.

I will take advice of using Paysafecard. I did not know of it till this. I hope that we don't lose a library of pre XP games because of no XP support. Windows 95, 98 and 2000 are things.

If GOG is reading this, Thanks for offline installers. Hope to see wallet cards. Please don't do away with them. I now know that I can use old games on old OS's as long as I have them to use. Not having wallet codes might be better too, might keep from getting to well known like Steam did. Keep up good work GOG.
I highly doubt it. As Maighstir already said, Paysafecard fills quite nicely that role. I'm not sure how widespread it is in the US, but here in Europe, is pretty common. Check their site and it should show you a map with their sell points in your area.

I am uncertain how to put it to you, so I think I'll choose the sort of quiet chime one might expect from standing inside the belltower of Christ Church in Dublin

WINDOWS XP IS DEAD.

The corpse is beyond fetid! The remains are desiccated! The bones have been sunbleached! It has been nearly 20 years since the system released and over 5 years since it was laid to rest!

If you're just using XP for hobbyist reasons, disconnected from the internet, that's fine.

If you're still mainlining, that's not a good idea. You should just install Linux or something. It's safer, saner, and can make better use of decrepit old machines. WINE handles the old games much better too.

Not sure what you mean here and not sure how its in US. But in EU you probably have some rights to use/access the games you bought.

See for example this where it was determined that lots of their ToS/EULA clauses are invalid:

A lot of games sold here that originally worked on Windows XP do not do so anymore without some work due to GOG doing this and that to make the games work on Windows 10 and with Galaxy.

Really? I get that GOG would prefer to have the installer create a shortcut that launches an executable that is made to work better with more recent versions of Windows, but have they indeed started to remove the compatible executables for older versions of Windows from the games now and is it done retroactively or just for new releases after GOG dropped XP-support from the Galaxy client?

Anyone maintaining one or more working retroPCs should be more than capable of learning how to copy a game after installation to another computer and then and figure out what registry keys might be needed to be imported in order to get it to work, but if GOG modifies the installed files in such a way that simply replacing GOG's executable with an older crack is not enough, it becomes a lot more troublesome to undo what they did.
GOG did a good job. My point was to say that offline installers are awsome.

Yes, I do have game that are on disc that won't activate on Windows XP. One did state to check internet connection even thogh Chrome was funtioning fine. Activation is frustrating. That a nice miidle finger because of OS support.

Anyway,
I like GOG because they do offer offline installers from web sight, not Galaxy. They make it easy. You want to play it, not spend a hour activeteing it when code won't work. Also why is there a activation limit on physicle copy of a game that full price was paid for. That's BS.

XP is dead. I would not go online with it. My XP machine is just a archive. It's not a daily driver, it's just to play old games that I have. Also there is a such thing as XP only. We can thank Star Force for that BS. If I was to install my copy of Namco Musium 25th Anneversery, it wouldn't start. Star Force looks for OS information. I am just using that as a example as per one game that I can think of that has it. There are others.

I will keep a eye out for GOG wallet codes. And DRM sucks. Also WINE is a option. I have a Ubutu machine and also a Mint machine. Both will work with WINE.

Please don't change policies GOG. Every download that was desighned for XP has worked. Far Cry is one.

most of those old games can be easily fixed in a couple of seconds if you know how to use google

You are barking at the wrong tree if you think its Valves fault that Ubisoft and co are too lazy to retroactively fix their older legacy titles before releasing them on Steam.

But i mean hey, if 3 seconds of tweaking is too much of work for people that they would literally pay a premium price for something they can easily do themselves, fine by my heh.

Also this may blow your mind but companies exist to make money, Gog included. They arent your friends and you shouldnt threat them as such.
I don't think there'll be gog cards in the near future, they're way too niche...hehe...niche....it's funny if you think about it. :D
Soon™ O.o
We can dream for wallet / "gift" cards though. Likely won't happen, but we can dream.

Go to your wallet and click on the "Buy" button for any amount, look through the list of payment options in order to see what's available (I see Credit/debit card, PaySafeCard, Webmoney, Skrill, and PayPal), different options are available in different countries. If PaySafeCard isn't listed, there may be another equivalent option.

The list should be the same as when you're trying to pay for a game (with the exception of wallet funds - that would be weird).
