About a year or two ago, there was many online rumors of an X-Wing remake. Admittedly, I had hoped it was true, but it seems to have faded in the sands of Tatooine. Does anyone know if this was ever coming to fruition, or just a vicious rumor to taunt us? :)

Thanks!

It's still in the works but it's being directed by Rian Johnson. Zing!

Too soon.
For the time being, there's this in the works:
https://www.moddb.com/mods/xwvm
New videos uploaded on the moddb page.

Nice; missed that one :)

As far as I read it it might take a while to be finished though. Oh well; X-Wing is on a sale now.

From what I understand, and I may be completely off the mark here, they're really careful with what they post in fear they'll get shut down by Disney's legal department. The videos they keep posting show a lot of progress, so it's difficult to gauge what percentage of the work is done.

Rightfully so with the carefulness. Those types are usually complete moronic dimwits that neither see or care that such a thing drives sales for their company. Case in point I just bought a game from them I already have again (although its only the floppy version) because of this.

But only because its on sale; otherwise I would have waited for the mods release.

Wonder if mine still work,25 years later.

:P

But the modder suggest getting the special edition anyway for all mission as much as better sound and voice quality.

I guess its the 1998 one; buying it adds three different versions all called special edition in the window screen to the library.

Yeah they don't want their work to end up like the KOTR project did.
Really bad news guys, Disney has found moddb’s hideout, actual mobile phone footage:

On an aside, whilst looking for that clip, I found this which would have made a very different film:

Apologies for the YouTube ad ridden links.
That mod looks amazing!

I wish I would not but I remember. At some point some doofus shot that down and probably even asked for a hefty lawyer fee being proud as a peacock and the only thing he prevented was for the company to move X numbers of a game with zero marketing or other investment cost involved for reignited interest.

As head of Disney I would have called for this guys head piked in front of the company building as warning for everybody.
Who knows when\if such mod will be ready.
In the meantime, I'm checking that recorded XWVM soundtrack ; )
