rtcvb32: but... Do i want to be scanning articles to answer quiz questions for 8 hours a day to make $60-$200 a day?
Just to put things in perspective, that's more than what I make as a senior software developer over here. I am fairly certain it would be considered easy money even in the US, considering the amount of effort required.

I don't think this is a sustainable model, nor is it meant to be one. I see it more as a publicity stunt, a way to draw attention to a topic Mr Cirio finds important. Just by looking at today's headlines, you can say it worked.

Well, i did work as a software developer too, and they were shafting me seriously. They were paying me 20k a year vs 40k, or about $16/hr. Benefits weren't too bad, but the actual structure of what they were doing wasn't very good. Oh well... As much as i want to do programming for a living, i doubt i'll be working there again.

Seems that way to me, too, or some sort of experiment. duckduckgo the guy and you see that this is more of the same type of stuff he does.

Crosmando: When I see news sites with paywalled articles I can't help but get a snide smile. The modern Western press are so absolutely crap that seeing them squirm to barely stay afloat in the internet age feels like justice.

Stuff like WikiLeaks or various hackings are where we get the real "true" news.

There are free alternatives, the above project is a good start in my opinion.

I think there is one new issue each month.

RoloTony: If that site isn't a scam, where are they getting the funds to pay readers?

rtcvb32: Well if you go to an article that isn't funded, at the bottom where the earning would be located there's an option instead to fund it... So anyone can fund it... I guess the question is... Why? Maybe stimulate people to start reading like they used to with newspapers 50 years ago? I used to deliver newspapers and quit when i was 15... That feels like a lifetime ago... and it was too...

Perhaps articles of higher importance to get more people looking/reading certain types of content, like making people aware of a new SOPA bill is being passed, then being paid to read up on it and be aware so you can voice your opinion seems like a reasonable option...

blotunga: Most people in my country make $200 in a month.. So not a bad choice actually...

rtcvb32: Then if it's real, might go for it... But i'd want confirmation before adding any personal information of my own. Course if they can pay via paypal, then that would be good.
Thanks for the additional information. Like you said, the biggest question is still "why" someone would fund these articles. Doesn't make sense from a financial perspective... maybe for propaganda purposes? Like if a news story is slanted towards a particular point of view, this site would help propagate that point of view...?
