Secondly Licurg is right : TinyE should have said for instance "Thank god of the snails I'm only pretending."
Thirdly , this thread is derailling .... let's fix that : I think in all the choices proposed by the OP, there should be Licurg/Scholar in the list because he's the only one you can count on to take care of Grammar :)

If we're going to argue spelling, I would like to reiterate my objection to the spelling of Tzar. We already have Tsar and Czar in English, and adding a third is just gratuitous, even if it is allowed.

Also, as a language buff, I'm ashamed to admit that many years passed before I realised that the term Czar comes from Caesar. As does Kaiser. Oh the long and mighty reach of Rome...

In fact ...God created the Bearded Women in His image, but His boss thought it was obvious so they didn't make an official statement with it ... but then Grammar occured and He was stuck with male attributes, the PR team did really poor damage assesment and they were late so they let the artistic blur about His sex settled in ..... but then earthly offices started not reading the divine memos ... so after a lot of miscommunication, here they are : making stupid rules like "Don't speak the name of God in vain because it implies you have to use an article, and you think the male one is the good one but it isn't. So just stop it is making things even more awkward for the company'.

I think I would take mage for many of the added benefits such as someone versed in the arcane arts, also a means of control over those who oppose me. I would have him or her train me in the mystical arts if possible, and then rule with an iron fist...since saying magical fist seems less imposing. Also, using mystical abilities I could learn the true intentions of my people and learn of the ones who would seek cause harm to other citizens and deal with them...magically :D.

I would definitely pick the peasant. The most important reason is for the group motivation factor. With many of th eother choices having an exceptionally fit second in command would be valuable because of their unique characteristics. However, rewarding loyalty and having humble peasant generals willing to work with the people and inspire them will yield an army of more capable soldiers. Promoting the peasant will engender a sense of loyalty and togetherness necessary for resources to band together until the death to stave off invaders and threats (versus having a single superior pompus mage or single handed spy, more fleeting and easily disposed of). Even if the peasant fails to motivate soldiers and farmers towards unity and vistory he will likely have a diehard loyalty and commitment. Also, the peasant (generalist) will have the capability to learn (instead of arrogantly deciding he's got a talent already). Never under-estimate the value of an unassuming approach.
