I've played through Drakensang a few times so if you need tips on character builds or whatnot just let me know ;)
Reading one manual is by the way enough. They only made some minor changes in River of Time (to rogue-class characters mainly), so you'll be able to play either game with whichever manual you choose.

Also, avoid playing rogue or similar (I've forgot the names of the other classes) in the first game, they are weaker than the other classes.
Ok thanks VERY VERY VERY VERY much to everyone.

I swear I did the google thing. I know you won't believe me now, but I really did try before resorting to this. I just suck at searches. I don't know why, I know how to use a computer, build a computer, but I can't for the life of me do searches as well as everyone else. I always suck at them.

The manuals to the two main games are FOUND, and downloaded, and verified. The only one left is to the expansion pack (which may not even have one, I dunno how expansion packs work in Germany, at least I think this is a German game. I do know I've bought numerous expansion packs that came with manuals.

Huckleberry refused a free game, and I haven't heard from the other winner yet. And if anyone can help with the expansion pack then there's plenty of games up there to choose from.

I don't know how to handle all of these responses though. I feel like I did it as fair as possible, but so many folks helped and aren't getting a game code so I have to rethink this. If you've responded above this post, please let me know if one of those games I listed above tickles your fancy, or if a $2.99 game in this weekends special tickles your fancy. I would like to something for everyone. But I may not have enough codes. I'm gonna go look at all I've got and see.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH. GOG DOT COM IS THE BEST SITE ON THE TOOBZ!

Is it as awesome as it appears at first sight???

My gosh, it looks like an incredibly in depth character system with really good game play. But I only dabbled a bit.

Can't actually help much, but it seems there is no manual for the expansion. At least in the spanish version, which was translated directly from the german version, the only "manual" included in the expansion is a paper with a map of one of the new areas and a small guide of how to reach the new content. Nothing else is included.

As I said, it's not what you want since the "manual" is in spanish but at least I inform you of what the manual of the expansion is.

Who needs/reads manuals today? Every new game has an ingame tutorial.

That's a mighty generous reward for 2 minutes of googling :P

It does offer you a lot of choices and the stat system is more complex than most D&D based RPGs. Make sure you understand what stats do when you are levelling up your character - for example two stats will work together to influence your HP, rather than just CON. And some non combat skills will go by the highest one in the party - so theres no need to have a bunch of characters spending points on those skills.

JohnWalrus: Here's one for the base game, I think:

I too was about to post this same link (i presume the same link), but also this - coupla years old but would tie up the lack of pdf manuals for the other two.

Sorry I cant help more OldFatGuy!
