So wanted to see if anyone else had this happen or something similar. (Does not have to be the same games)

So I got a copy of Galactic Civilizations 1 UE and activated the key. I then got a copy of Galactic Civilizations Complete (cheap enough that it offset the difference between just getting Gal Civ II). It was a gift copy and went into my inventory. I then clicked on it and said add to my game library. It gave a nice warning saying I already had Gal Civ I installed and "WOULD NOT" get a gift copy of GC1. Well, I already knew that so I said OK and hit install. Well GC1 and GC2 both work nice and dandy in my library and that is all great.

That was last night. So, today, I was goofing off on Civ V and got a new trading card. Well I went to check out the trading card and noticed that a Galactic Civilizations Complete "gift" is still sitting in my inventory??? Now, I only had one from a trade, and I have not gotten any gifts from anyone else, but this gift is just chilling in my inventory.

So has this happened to anyone? Is the gift even useable anymore? What should i do about said gift? Now, if i am not mistaken, steam does not attach keys to games from gifts until they are activated? So would this gift work for someone else?

Thank you for your time.
That's weird but I was seeing some of the same behavior this past weekend after trading and gifting games. If you don't have the browser bar installed, you can do that and then hit refresh. That seemed to fix it for me and my inventory was then correct.

But you could test it if you'd like to see if it's valid - try and trade to someone reliable, then have them trade it back to you. Alternately, if you're positive you only bought one copy, you could contact Steam support and ask them to remove the mysterious extra copy but I tend to think it's just a ghost copy due to over-heated servers!
