I'm looking for a Sci-Fi TV-series about a superhero.

It was a professor bound to a wheelchair but he invented some form of exoskeleton-suit like thing so that he could walk and fight crime like a pro.

I think he wasn't Caucasian, more like African origin but I'm not 100% sure.
Old series, maybe 80s or something.

What's the name of the series?
