Every time I launch GOG Galaxy app the GalaxyClient Helper dump file is created in my CrashDumps folder.

Is it okay?

Ever since the update yesterday galaxy gives me a "galaxyclient helper has stopped working" popup every time i launch it so I guess they just broke something. Doesn't seem like the app itself is affected in any way.
same but no pop up for me just a dump file. and the following event viewer log. seems to be a bug with the new version. just glad i'm not the only one.

Yep it's been crashing since the last update.

Most people aren't going to notice and it doesn't seem to affect anything, so I wonder how long that will stay unaddressed.
Still crashing for me now.

Is there any fix for this?

Tried uninstalling, then re-installing Galaxy but still crashing.

Downgrade to 2.0.75.142 and prevent automatic updates until this gets patched.

Does anybody know if this was reported in the bug tracker?

I opened a support ticket a few days ago and they didn't seem aware of the problem. If you can send them the requested logs, open a support ticket and do so. I haven't noticed any crashes since upgrading to the latest experimental version.

If it's fixed with the latest experimental build, as you say, I will just wait until the next beta comes out. For the moment the crashes don't bother me that much, since they only pop up once when Galaxy is started. If I leave it running, it seems there are no further issues.

I have had some bad experiences with the experimental builds in the past, where Galaxy completely failed (didn't start, database errors etc), and that took a long time to uninstall and reinstall everything, so I would rather not do that again. :)

If you're going to stick with the version that crashes, then you can send support those logs they asked for to make sure they know about the problem.
FWIW, I upgraded to the latest 2.0.80.33 beta, and there are still GalaxyClient Helper crashes. So that is not fixed, in any case. So I guess I will go and post the crash dumps to a support ticket.
Try to uninstall all Visual C++, restart PC, install all Visual C++ 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015-2022 (all 32 & 64 bit versions), and restart PC

That error affect also DooM + DooM II (and not just gog version)

edit: ok... today it's crashed again at the first launch with that error... but i think that is still caused by Visual C++ (also, we have the same version of that file and i don't know if there are or not other versions)

So I posted the crash dumps to the support site about a week ago, but there was no response at all. I sort of expected that. :)

My guess is that we'll just have to keep ignoring these crashes, or maybe just delete GalaxyClient Helper.exe? Does anybody know what the thing is good for?

Never mind, if you rename or move away GalaxyClient Helper.exe, Galaxy does not start up at all. So apparently having it crash a few times is required :)
