After the initial installation of Fallout 4 I launched the game in order to play. It cleared the screen and had a rotating blue ring, evidently forever, as I went and cooked/ate dinner and came back to it still at the same stage. I killed it from the Task Manager and tried launching again, same behavior. I found a "Verify/Repair" option and selected it. It churned for a while, then asked for permission to install DirectX. That immediately got an error "invalid command line switch". I clicked ok, and the process continued with 3 other installers. It did the whole 4 installer process a couple of times, so I killed GOG and all its minions. After several hours I found that it was launching a DirectX installer (DXSETUP.exe) with a "/silent" command line parameter. After puttering around, I launched DXSETUP.exe WITHOUT the /silent, and it worked! I was able to play Fallout 4. However, it still is forever asking me for permission to run DirectX (and the others), even though things are "fine". How do I cancel the verification process?
