I created a ticket for this problem with GOG support a week ago but I haven't received any answer so far, so I'll try my luck here.

In short, I'm trying to launch custom executables with various games but GOG Galaxy 2.0 won't let me. When I link to a custom .exe and try to launch it through the client nothing happens. There's no reaction, even though I know the .exes in question are working perfectly if launched independently from GOG. There's also no issue when I try to launch any of the default executables of a game (such as manuals or cluebooks). Curiously enough when I try to launch a custom executable the client sometimes hangs upon exit and I have to terminate the application through task manager.

Any clues to what's going on? I know the custom executable feature has worked for me in the past but I can't pinpoint when it broke down.

try deactivating any of the gog galaxy overlays
Have you tried unlinking an executable that works, then re-linking it? That'd be a good way to test if it's actually broken or if the executables you're linking are incompatible or something.
I have no overlays active.

I tried this by duplicating one of the default executables (Manual.pdf) of Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption and the duplicated version of the manual will not launch whereas the original still does. I even duplicated the main .exe and that resulted in the same failure. It seems that the client will not respond to any executable I add through custom executables / arguments. It only launches those that comes with the installation.
After some further testing it seems like the issue might be with VtM: Redemption itself. I have managed to launch custom executables with several other games now but even after reinstalling the game, Vtm: Redemption still won't cooperate.

Very odd.
That's extremely odd. But hey, at least with Galaxy, we can still play games outside of the client if we want, so you may just have to play it via the desktop shortcut instead.. at least, until GOG gets around to patching it. I'd definitely submit a bug report for that so that they're made aware if they aren't already.

I tried linking a pdf through 'add executable' but it wouldn't let me. Not surprising as a .pdf is not an executable. So I'm assuming you're linking you're preferred .pdf reader and giving manual.pdf as an argument?

I can't get this to work either. I did this...

added 'chrome.exe' as executable - works fine
added full path to manual.pdf as argument - now does nothing - using quotes was also unsuccessful

I'm sure I'm missing something simple. If anyone can educate me on launching .pdf files from galaxy that would be great! :)

Any solution to this? Was trying to add an executable to Alkabeth so I could also run the 1998 version, but adding an executable doesn't work .. no matter what I select.

Where is this info kept outside the GUI? Is it in a config file somewhere?
