So I started a new game as a wizard, which gave me basic armor to start plus a "Robe of Fire Resistance" in my inventory. For a little while everything is fine and the game is running perfectly smooth with all graphics settings maxed. Then I reach into the bag to equip the robe, and everything goes to hell. Basically, as soon as the robe shows up on my character in the game the frame rate appears to drop dramatically, down to about 15 FPS or so. In addition though, the mouse wheel camera controls (zooming and rotating) are now 2 or 3 times as sensitive as they were before, so I'm not sure what that's about. As soon as I take off the robe and put on the default "rags," everything is back to normal again.
I've tried altering every single graphics setting including the resolution and texture packs at the startup screen, but even if I drop everything down to zero, there same problem keeps happening. The game is still playable like this, but it's extremely annoying and I imagine it will happen whenever there's a character in the game wearing the "robe" costume textures (I'll update this once I'm a little further in).
I'm using XP Pro SP3, Dual Core 3.2 ghz, and a Geforce GTX 460 card with 260.99 drivers. I've had many problems with other games since upgrading my graphics card as well (was using the 8800 GT until a few months ago), so I'm assuming that's the problem. Does anyone else running the game have this card as well, or is there maybe something in the nVidia control panel I can play with?
