Hi all...
I'm running into a problem I didn't expect in NWN. I plan on hosting and playing through the main campaigns with a few friends, and like to hand out rewards for what I call "general wackiness." Unexpected things that are clever or just make me laugh. The problem is that as a player, I can't reward them. And there doesn't seem to be any way to give players DM abilities on a multi-player server. It seems like I'd either have to use the DM Client & Player Client at the same time (which I imagine would require owning two keys), or, log out every time I feel the whim to reward someone and then log back in to continue the adventure, which is going to add minutes for every time I feel like being generous and kill the momentum.
Google searches have revealed nothing on this issue, and I'm surprised. Minecraft has "opped" characters on servers which have command-line access (which is pretty much all I need for NWN). Possessing an NPC character and playing that way won't work right, because the leveling system won't play correctly and I won't be able to properly transfer characters between modules/chapters.
Anyone here have any ideas?
(Edit: another scenario. Let's say I build a module and we approach a mandatory door... that I accidentally locked, we can't pick or bash down. In the current system, I'd have to tell everyone to hold on, log-out, log-in as DM, kill the door, log-out as DM, log back in as a player, and then continue. Having command-line access would be nice, because I could just wax the door without the other players knowing there was ever a problem. It's strange to me that there isn't more available on this topic.)
