If the game won't start when you press play in the launcher, running the launcher as administrator should fix it.
Or start directly from the nwmain.exe :)
I had the same problem with my original version. I hoped the GOG version would restore that. But it seems it was a waste of money!

I tried to run the launcher as admin at this works to start the game.
But when I get the menu screen in the game, it starts flashing and the screen goes back to my desktop. If I can click fast, I can hit the 'new game' button. Then I can make a character without problems. But when I start the game, the loading screen gives me the same flashes. and I can't go further then this. It keeps going back to the desktop. And if I open the game window again, I get the same problem over and over.

So I hope someone here can give some help to solve this problem, so that my money isn't wasted after all.

Did you try to start from nwmain.exe directly and tried some compatibility settings?
Nope, no luck with any of those solutions: am running Win7 Pro, tried different compatibility settings, resolutions and directly running main exe. (both as admin and normal.
I gets a spinning blue circle then boing! back to Desktop.

NWNMain is running in processes but uses <2% cpu.

Also tried setting the launcher as admin, still no luck.

My disc version has absolutely no issues with Win 7 x64. It runs as it should, plays as it should, and does not require any tweaking or compatibility settings.

I would suggest a specific download, but I've been told it has nothing to do with why I have no issues with the game.

If you find an easy fix you might want to start a thread for people. This is a pretty common issue with Win 7 from what I understand.

There are three files for NWN - one .EXE and two .BIN. You need to download all three to the same location then run the .EXE.
I've downloaded, the game is installed, I play, but the second the clip fo the guy walking with bow and stuff is over, games closes, saying windows has encountered an error.

Got any clues?

You could try hitting the space bar during the movie to bypass it.

Or you could open nwn.ini and in the [Display Options] section add/edit the line to read Disable intro movies=1

Might help if you gave us an actual error message.
