I just purchased this from GoG and am very excited to start playing and immerse myself in the game.
My version says 1.69......so is my version up to date or not?
Yes, 1.69 is the latest (and likely final) patch.
Personally I'd run the 1.69 patch on it just to be sure....

Trying to patch GOG games can actually cause problems if the patch replaces the exe (which is very common). Most commonly this results in the game suddenly asking for a CD, as the new exe doesn't have the DRM patched out as the GOG exe did.
Initially the GOG version didn't have all the files...despite it calling itself version 1.69.

I've heard many using the patch on the GOG version of the game at that time and that that fixed the problem with the missing files.

However...there is a romour that the GOG version has been fixed since. I think it was something with some cloaks or robes missing...not sure of which.

Anyway...this is all easy to check. If everything works with the default GOG files maybe its all good....(?).....

This wasn't the 1.69 patch, but the 1.69 critical rebuild (which basically re-installs most of the game's data files, but which I don't think overwrites the exe). If problems are observed after installing the GOG version of NWN then using the 1.69 critical rebuild is recommended, but using the 1.69 patch is not.
In this case I think the patch is the same as the critical rebuild....so the "patch" actually rebuilds/patches/replaces most of the files to make sure everything is alright.

I've never heard of anyone having thoose kinds of problems you describe after installing the 1.69 critical rebuild...(hence its name I guess...)

==========

Anyway....this whole discussion is probably mote. After a long time and many pleas I think GOG fixed their version....and put in the missing files.

I guess there is only one way to find out.....so why not let the OP try it and return if he has problems....

The DRM (i.e. cd requirement) was removed from the game long before GOG ever got it. Therefore, it won't be an issue to run the critical rebuild.

Furthermore, just like the Impulse version, GOG installs the game to the programs folder. Anyone installing the game should move it to the root drive and set the directory hierarchy so it looks like this:

C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\

Without this "fix" many of the 3rd party utilities and mods will not work. Nor will the critical rebuild patches - should you need to run them.
