Your savegames are placed in the folder 'saves' in the nwn installation folder.

Your characters are stored together with your savegames at each save and in the 'localvault' folder at each character creation or export.

I'm not sure about online play, though.

Characters you make on-line are also stored in the local vault on creation and if you export them as well.
