I finally tried NWN for the first time and am enjoying the OC... I had a few questions about multiplayer though.

1. There are a bunch of high levels when I join a server... Can I still play even though I'm starting off at Level 1?

2. Should I beat all the NWN Campagins before even 'thinking' about multiplayer? And then use the character I've beat the games with?

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!
Welcome to NWN persistent world servers (PW's)!

The best "MMORPG" experience!

I have played the game for like 9 years on PW's and never the OC. Just started the OC like a week ago but found it boring so went back to one of the PW's....

I do agree there is a learning curve though. Until you understand what it really is you are playing and the understanding that PW's can differ so much from each other that it is almost a new game every time. So, congatulations on buying a couple of thousand games pretty cheap... :-P

To answer your question...the others level usually don't matter...only in that you might not be able to play with them directly. Hopefully there will be some others you play with though.

I have many suggestions for good servers to start out at on the NWN1 guild page on Xfire:

http://www.xfire.com/clans/superfly2000/

If you get Xfire, which is a chat/server-browser thingie I'd even be willling to guide you through playing at one of them. Skype could work also....and a headset is helpful...

Thanks for clearing that up for me :) I'm definitely interested in trying out the PWs, but was scared that I didn't have the knowledge that players require before delving into online play. This looks like a game where a lot of time, which may come a bit scarce for me at the moment, can be invested. I do appreciate the offer, I may message you soon enough :)
You'll want to play a bit of the OC to learn it, but I could join NWN multiplayer again to help you out. I play a Wizard, Druid or Fighter class character
Do not be afraid of OnLine play. If you log onto a server where people are not happy to help you learn how to play, Just logout and find a server where the players are more friendly. You will get more enjoyment playing with friendly people anyway and most of the servers out there are friendly.

One important note here though. Just because a Player is rude IC ( In Character ) does not mean that he is being rude OOC ( Out Of Character ). I only mention this because I have known people to get offended by IC banter just from the fact that they did not relize that the comments where directed at there Character from a character, and where not comments of a Player directed at another Player.

Most of the RP ( Roll Play ) Server have rules that you preface OOC chat with something to denote it a OOC. Many people just use two slashes in front of there OC chat.

Grim: Hay you there, are you tring to be a statue.
Grim : // Are you still playing or are you using your keyboard as a pillow?
Try Neverwinter Connections.
