I played the OC 100% fine till the last hour or so, then I'd lose sound after about 2 minutes, and tabbing out would crash the game.

Now in motb the same thing is happening, lose sound in 2 minutes, and tabbing out OR trying to close the game crashes it.

So basically I play for 2 minutes, sound goes out, and if I alt tab it crashes. If I try to exit the game normally, it crashes. I can play the game fine without sound, no issues or anything, but I kinda want my sound.

Please help, anyone, I cant figure out what the heck to do.
You could try uninstalling your sound drivers in device manager, then reboot and let windows install default windows ones.
Or go directly to the Realtek (or whoever your manufacturer is) and get drivers from there, as apposed to the ones edited by your motherboard manufacturer.
DirectX 9.0C games are particularly fussy with sound drivers, because unlike later games, the sound is not handled through DirectX, but directly with your sound drivers.

Heya, thanks for the response.

However I've already did that. As well as run the game as admin, set to SP2 compatability, try disabling steam functions, using client extension, and completely reinstalling the game to a non program files directory.

er, I dont. Which is the whole point of this thread. So far I play until the sound goes out, then restart and play some more. However that can be an hour or that can be 2 minutes. I said I -CAN- play fine without sound. Not that I do.

How do you know it's fine without sound unless you tested it?

You said: " I can play the game fine without sound, no issues or anything" That implies that you turned off sound and it doesn't crash.

uh no. That means when the sound goes out I can continue playing.
