I've been all over the place and I can't find a simple 'do this', so I don't know what's going on. "Crafting is easy! Just use this recipe!"... and???

So I'm in a dungeon (gem temple): I've got adamantine nuggets, I've got a scimitar +2: I put em together in the blacksmith's workbench, or the wizarding bench next to it... and there's nothing I can see that actually MAKES me my happy +2 adamantine scimitar. R-clicking. Looking through my skills. nada.

What? What must be clicked to get my improved sword?
Personally, I found NWN2 crafting one of the WORSE I ever dealt with. It's much better with the MoTB and SoZ expansions. Or any other RPG games.

I assume you want to combine the Adamantine nuggets and the Scimitar +2 to make a Adamantine Scimitar +2. Unfortunately, it wont work. You can't combine these two like this.

However, you CAN craft a Adamantine Scimitar and enchant it afterwards to get a Adamantine Scimitar +2. It's going to be two-steps process.

1. Make sure the crafter has the required crafting skills. That character needs at least 15 ranks in his Craft Weapon skill.

2. You also need these components: 1 Adamantine ingot, a scimitar mold and a smiting hammer. The last two can be found at any crafting shops.

3. Put the 1 Adamantine ingot and a scimitar mold in the blacksmith bench.

4. SAVE YOUR GAME.

5. Select your crafter and open your inventory screen. Make sure he has the smiting hammer in his inventory.

6. Have the crafter right-click your smiting hammer and choose Use.

7. With your mouse cursor, highlight the blacksmith bench and click on it to craft. You can close/move away your Inventory screen if it blocks your view.

You should now get a Adamantine Scimitar. To enchant it:

1. Your crafter need to have the Craft Magic Arms and Armor feat.

2. The crafter must have the Light spell and at level 6th or higher.

3. You need these three components: your Adamantine Scimitar, a Diamond and a Faint Air Essence.

4. Put the Adamantine Scimitar, a Diamond and a Faint Air Essence in the magic workbench.

5. SAVE GAME.

6. Have you crafter cast the Light spell on magic workbench.

You should get Adamantine Scimitar +2. Of course, if you want a a better enhancement like +3, +4, +5, etc, you need to check the right recipe, which is probably going to be different than the one I just described.

Thank you so much! It's so odd: you can't adamantize the +2 weapon but you can +2 the adamantine weapon. I had my 'craft weapon' at 15, but that wasn't enough. I finally figured out that it was a 'martial' weapon that added more factors, so after a skill song and foxes cunning, I have +5 adamantine weapons.
You're right, I misread about the 15 ranks. Sorry about that! I'm glad things worked for you in the end.

Kind of make sense.

Seems much more logical that you can enchant a material, than change the material of an enchanted item.

Think of Magic enchantment as paint, and the material as wood.

If you have a Black Painted Wooded box made out of spruce:

Is it easier to keep the paint and change the wood to maple. Or just paint a maple wooden box. It should be obvious that keeping the paint while changing the material, is impossible.
