Same thing. No black bars pre-patch on 1680x1050, but now there are. Disabling vignette doesn't do anything.

Oh yes there were.
I also had no black bars pre-patch, have them now, running at 1920x1200 the entire time. And before you argue that they really were there, why did I notice them IMMEDIATELY upon entering the game post-patch? Literally the first thing I noticed when I loaded up the game, which isn't indicative of something that was there all along.
Hmmmm.
Really wierd.
I am running a 22" 120hz monitor, @ 1680x1050, and I had the black bars both before and after the patch.
Dunno how you guys with the same res werent getting them.
:(
I have a 24" montior @ 1680x1050, and get the black bars as well. Frankly, I never even really noticed them because this game is so astoundingly beautiful. After reading others complaints, I did notice them, but they don't bother me. It's no different than watching a movie, and certainly not important enough to take away from the pleasure I get playing.

Well, I DID notice them right off the bat. ~1 1/4 inch of screen missing I tend to notice.
:P
It actually breaks the immersion for me, and I also find myself kind of 'scooching' down in the chair a bit trying to adjust.
Maybe if I was able to play on the right side of the keyboard, I wouldnt notice it as much, but everything about TW2 is just immersion breaking for me.
Hopefully they will fix everything though.
Sometime.
Maybe in GOTY edition.
Perhaps.
:P

gtfo with your pedantry.
The black bars on mine are fairly small, maybe a 1/4 inch.

you probably didn't see the black bars because of scalling setting in the drivers.
Meaning the guys on your screen were probably a bit thinner than they should have been without scaling.

You didn't have a magic copy of the game that worked differently from everyone else's, I'm sorry.

Yup, either a setting on their monitor, or something with their drivers. But there is no way that the game itself was set for a 16:10 aspect ratio because that ratio does not exist in the game, only 16:9.

Yep. 1680x1050 on a 22" 16:10. Black bars were there pre-patched, didn't noticed until someone mentioned it in a forum, checked and they were there. Post-patch, nothing changed. The Devs already testified that on launch there is no full 16:10 support and there will be black bars, so it can't have been anything to do with the game itself.

Cute. Doesn't have to be the copy of the game, it could be something my graphics card was doing. They changed something so that my "pseudo" 16:10 doesn't work, because there are bars that weren't before. They were the first thing I noticed(subconsciously; I wasn't actively looking for them) when I got in game post patch. You don't subconsciously notice things that don't change.

If you set the game to a 16:9 resolution and then have your GPU or monitor scale without fixed aspect ratio then yes, it will stretch and fill your screen. I find it hard to believe you did that without knowing what was going on though, or that you did not notice the horrible quality effects of stretching an image and running an image in a non-native resolution on an LCD.

In any case, who cares? The game has never used a 16:10 aspect ratio and that's all that matters.

Trust me, I would have noticed the black bars when I first launched the game, I would have tried to fix it, I would have found that TW2 doesn't support 16:10 and I would have pondered that ridiculous fact. The stretching was obviously not that bad then, but GPU scaling is off and was always off. Now, what did they change to fuck up their pseudo 16:10...
