In case you didn't know, if you go into your User.ini (Documents\Witcher 2\Config) and change the setting AllowSharpen=0 to AllowSharpen=1, it greatly increases the quality, without a drop in the framerate.

Aye, I think this setting was added by the recent patch, and is only enabled on the High and Ultra profiles (but they have to be selected manually first).

People not aware of this thought that the texture resolution was decreased.

EDIT: Nevermind, it seems this setting was available since the original version, but somehow it was disabled by the 1.1 patch (happened to me, at least).

Since it has no corresponding setting in the launcher, it had to be either manually changed, or the High and Ultra settings had to be manually selected from the drop-down box (it wouldn't be simply turned on by the autodetect feature).

ultra preset uses 4096 texture resolution, anything below uses 2048.

Aye, but the default presets in the documents folder haven't changed for me since the 17th, when Steam installed the game. Basically, everything is the same as before.
High and Ultra get AllowSharpening=1, but it doesn't get changed by the autodetect feature.
I have "custom" settings for the graphics engine, and the file show "AllowSharpen=1". So what part of my configuration allowed that. I pretty much ran the auto detect feature after installing the patch and it was set on the high setting. Noticed my FPS dropped considerably (in my opinion at least) and disabled Motion blur, SSAO, Ubersampling, and Bloom effect. Put LOD on near and set texture memory to large instead of the medium it suggested. So with that being said, what do you guys think allowed the "AllowSharpen=1" ?
High and Ultra enable AllowSharpen=1

If auto-detect enabled it for you, maybe it was a bug on my side only, as it was 0 even after launcher auto-detected high.

I had set it: in pre 1.1 and tried again but it over writes again:
MaxAtlasTextureSize=4096 Edit: changes are sticking with launcher!!

Will try to launch exe instead of launcher to see if any improvement without frame drop of Uber setting!! Edit: doesn't change

Edit: No discernable difference in FPS just GPUmem usage from 497mb > 520 (one scene only of course I'm only running black bars around a 1360x760 screen) usually 850Mb with 1920x1080rez(whatever the highest is)

open options in launcher menu. select ultra preset. save and exit. open options again and toggle advanced settings to adjust settings individually.

Anit-Aliasing. It makes jagged edges blurry, so if you turn it on, allow sharpen also turn on to make up for the blur of the textures.
