Ebon-Hawk: Well by categorizing it like that you are basically marginating it’s influence or telling blind masses (the ones who cannot think of themselves) that it is not a mainstream product that they want to play. It is a clever play of the words that in the end actually discredits the product and not congratulates on its successes…
I was thinking exactly that all along, but I thought I was being too negative and seeing things, so I kept my mouth shut. Thanks for confirming my uneasy feeling about that condescending thing he said. On the other hand, I for one am perfectly content to dwell in a niche. I don't get the desire to be "normal" and mainstream all the time, you'll never get any more than mediocrity out of life that way. TW2 is a game that appeals much more to people who take a real interest, who get the story, than to the big mainstream with the fast food mentality. People who "beat" a game, instead of playing it, and then discard it and move on to the next thing that gives them points for their gamerscore for the virtual pissing contest. Then you wonder, why companies don't imbue sweat and blood and love into the games like they used to. Consumers don't apprechiate that anymore, they need quantity over quality and short games, please, because you can't invest weeks to net a couple "achievements" (as if going through a door was a special thing to do, right).
It's just too bad that a formerly awesome company now tends to that fast food mainstream. I be happy in my niche with TW2. :)
