I haven't played TW2 much lately (TW1 is under way instead), but I've booted it up for a few mod-testing purposes. When I then moved close to a fire in Lobinden, I noticed Geralt had developed some kind of aura of blinding light, that I have never spotted before (despite my many playthroughs). Now, I might just be imagining it, and it's always been there, but I sincerely doubt it. My own system hasn't been altered since the last time I played, and all that's happened is that I applied patch 1.3.

Does anyone have an idea what's causing this, and if so, is there an easy way to fix it, somehow? I understand that turning off bloom might help, but I've always played with bloom switched on, so I don't know why this suddenly has started happening.

I've never not experienced this.

Only the lighter colors, of which there are few on many of the in-game armors, glow, whereas the skin glows brightly near the fires.

Could it be that you didn't notice before because you were never running around shirtless next to fires? :)

Haha! Oh, maybe. I'll try putting a shirt on, and check it out again. I know there's always been an abundance of 'glow,' I just never had it appear so... so obnoxiously.

EDIT: It only glows like this on your bare skin, and not off clothing and armor. So weird that I haven't noticed it before, though... I mean, even with gloves on and what not, I should have seen it beaming off the face. So... why is it that Geralt's pale skin reflects light in such a way? :o

As for why skin seems to reflect so much light compared to other things, I can't really say. However, it seems as though there's an area glow effect that brightens as the glow overlaps, so small portions glowing seem significantly less bright than one uber-glowtastic, half-naked Geralt ;)
Can I just have a smile on the half-naked Geralt thread? :)

Oh boy, I think you took the mutagen testing too seriously and look what happened. Eating that stuff doesn't mean that armor is now optional *g*. Did you want to impress Micko there with your alabaster skin, ey?

Perhaps. I will not pretend to know anything about how lighting like this is programmed into a game, but shouldn't reflected light/glow off skin, be kept to a minimum? I mean, it looks awesome on armor and clothing, why not keep it at the same levels?

Of course he did - he was looking for a less exposed and brightly illumintaed place... ts ts...
227 is pretty much on it. If you stand in front of a fire, there will be a residual glow from the fire. The intensity of the effect would depend on the time of day. At high noon it would be less ( or should be ) due to the ambient light. Better the glow than standing too close and being incinerated. : ) Reflecting the glow from the fire is natural.
