The launcher has apparently updated my orig pre May 10 files and removing the game and re-installing brings me to 1.2 even if I start the game without the launcher and I have disconnected the web!!

I wanted to at least play the game through once without them changing the rules mid-stream.
Some mods don't work now either!! Is this possible? (I should have set all the files as read only) Thanks

reinstall? usually thats the only way you can downgrade games i think...

and the updater should ask you if you want to update your game, so next time just select 'no' or cancel or whatever.

When I applied the 1.2 patch it has somehow "corrupted" my orig pristine files I never used the launcher after I deleted the original game location and reinstalled it from scratch, so it shouldn't have looked to update to the latest?? meaning their isn't any opportunity for the launcher to ask IF I want to upgrade.
One thing to check is that the patch files are not still in your directories. If they implemented the patch in a similar way to a mod, then re-installing the game may keep the patched files there.

Try deleting the files in the original game directory in Program Files and delete all but your save game files in My Documents > Witcher 2.

In my "Witcher 2" directory in the Documents directory there is a "Downloads" subdirectory with Patcher_1.2.exe in there. I suspect if you delete that then re-installing should work.

Thanks your right, I see that in downloads!! I checked their site and it said that i need to install 1.1 and then when i do that it will automatically update to 1.2(I thought that it was downloading so that's why i disconnected my net BUT I guess it went to the download dir and patched it automatically from there). THANKS for the info. I'm redownloaded from GOG so will abort that and try your solution..
