Hi. The games takes about 10 minutes to load a saved game each time. Is that normal?

My laptop is AMD Phenom 2 4 cores P920 1.6G, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470, 4G memory, Win7 , game is running in medium spec

No it's not normal, loading from saves is almost instantaneous for me, and loading new areas never takes more then a few seconds. Have no idea what would cause the game to take 10 minutes to load a saved game, thats insane. I wouldn't even bother playing if that was the case, because you will die a lot in this game.

I also have this problem. I think it has something to do with screen resolution, as I only have the problem when playing with my PC outputting to my TV via HDMI. typical connection to a desktop monitor works just fine, save games load in about 5 seconds.

The one workaraound I found is when you are on the loading screen, ctrll-alt-delete out to task manager. Then right click on the withcher program on the taskbar and pick close the window (like you are forcing the game to close). Most of the time it will pop me back into the game and it loads instantly.

Weird, I know. Let me know if this works for you, I'm also interested if anyone else has this problem and if there is a REAL fix.

For me, the save loading gets longer the more saves I have. So I will move all but 5 saves to a new folder, and the loading of saves becomes faster again.

I have the same problem, when I die and need to reload it takes AGES for some reason

I find if I alt tab out of the loading screen, then tab back in.. it loads shortly after

Update: Found a better fix. When you first start the game, in the launcher window click on the video and language. In that window, drop down the box under fullscreen and choose disabled.

This will be slightly annoying, as when the game runs you will see your taskbar at the bottom, but saved games load up quickly every time now.

For me, the Launch is slow, but saved games do well. One thing I noticed is that although you have a Quad Core, it is rated at 1.6 Ghz and that is a bit slow for this game. The minimum calls for a Dual Core @ 2.2 Ghz, so the Quad itself is fine, but not so sure of the speed.

Keep your savegame directory trimmed to just a dozen or so saves and don't use the launcher. Start the game by making a shortcut from the witcher2.exe file in the \bin game folder.
