Topic. That is one of the graphic options.

I expected it to increase/decrease the number of shadow casting lights but apparently it does something else, or isn't working.

So my question is: did anyone notice any difference changing this setting?

I played on Ultra the whole game and the only shadow casting lights I have seen are the sun and the moon.

Thanks in advance.

Actually, there are a few campfires and forges that cast shadows. But they are way too few for having an "ultra" setting.

And I'm probably the only one who plays the game noticing lights and shadows.
I still don't see a difference when changing many of the config settings available in the user.ini file.

I am waiting for some benchmarking site (tom's hardware, anandtech, bit-tech, etc...) to release detailed benchmarks and hopefully discuss the individual settings. I'm amazed none of them have done any in-depth testing on this game yet, considering it's a PC exclusive and one of the best looking games on PC right now.

Tweakguides.com was supposedly working on a guide for this game. Not sure what happened to that.
In User.ini there are a few related options too:

MaxCubeShadowCount=3
MaxSpotShadowCount=3
ShadowedLights=3

I tried fiddling with these, but they make no difference whatsoever ingame.

Is this broken just for me, or everyone else?

I think this is the TweakGuides guide:
http://www.geforce.com/#/Optimize/Guides/witcher-2-tweak-guide

What he says about number of shadowed lights is this:

"This option sets a limit on the maximum number of lights that can cast shadows at any one time. In areas with multiple dynamic light sources, this can affect performance due to multiple sets of shadows being cast.
The two sets of screenshots above show that whether this setting is at Ultra or Low, it usually makes no real difference to the appearance of most scenes with multiple light sources."

Yeah, it makes no real difference. That´s what puzzles me.

He also mentions those .ini settings and how they don´t change as they should when you configure it ingame. But I tried adjusting them and still no difference.

I just wanted to see torches casting dynamic shadows. :(
