I've already played through the game twice 1.1 and 1.2 respectively. With the news of the new patch, I decided on playing it again. It seemed to patch fine, but when I leveled up I wasn't able to allocate my talent points in the tree. I see the plus symbol and everything, but I can't seem to put in the points.

Anyone else have this problem?

Just to get it out of the way first, you are meditating then accessing the character screen?
Oh wow thanks. I guess I didn't read the changelog thoroughly. I actually like this change.

Always been like that on the harder difficulty level AFAIK. It's just confusing if you don't know what to expect. Don't know if the patch changed that though.

No.

If you're on skill levels Hard or Insane, you can only assign talents during meditation mode. Try that.

On Easy and Normal skill levels, you can do it at any time by accessing the Character screen.

This is something I hard to work out myself becuase I found no reference of this discrepency in either the tutorial log or game manual. I'm currently playing the game on Hard.

I had no idea. I only now decided on playing it on hard difficulty.

I checked the tutorials. Indeed there were no references in the tutorial that you need to meditate to assign talents.

However there is one small line in section 4.2 which mentions this.

And players of TW1 would probably meditate to level up :)
What I want to know is why the manual states you can press Ctrl+Esc to meditate, yet it doesn't work?

I realise it's not a big deal as you can just use the radial menu, but I'm curious.

It's never worked regardless of game version.

There are quite a few typos in the manual. I think some of the skill names are wrong too.

True, it never occurred to me I could distribute my points by simply accessing character screen. I always meditate.

Probably the same reason the manual calls Grapeshot bombs "Beehive" bombs.

Yeah, wouldn't trust the manual explicitly. There are some things that were removed/changed and the manual wasn't updated to reflect those changes.

Yeah, one of those typos. It's meant to say Ctrl+Spacebar. Pressing spacebar in menus and such, selects the currently highlighted item (or what have you), holding down Ctrl opens up the quick menu, and if you then press spacebar, it will select meditate right away. It's just a convenience tip, I think.

You can level up without meditating? You gotta be kidding me, I played through the game on normal, but it never even occurred to me it might be possible =)
If you're playing on Easy or Normal, you don't need to meditate.

If you're playing on Hard or Insane, you have to meditate.

Wow thanks for the tip... now I wonder if there's a shortcut to drinking potion, alchemy, and character...
