Hello,

I've finished this quest, found immortelle but still cannot find the storage room, that Balin mentioned in his last note (I found the key with note on his corpse.). I thought the doors should be in the mine somewhere near his corpse, as he wanted to sneak by monsters for supplies, but I probably missed them in the dark (even with cat potion) or dunno. Anyone succeeded in finding storage room?

i can't give precise directions right now, but that room is, i believe a bit before where you find the key. there should be a locked door ("key required" door to be precise). just try every door in the mines and you should find it. or maybe you found it already but missed the "unlocked" notice :)

Actually, i found this note and key even after I got to immortelle (=after i unlocked all doors i found to get there, with three keys from three corpses before), but i couldnot remember missed locked door ... thanks anyway eCOs. I will try to search the mine more thoroughly.

yes, the keys with journal and map fragments take you through the mines. i believe the actual storage key is on the corpse of balin himself . (was that balin, the guy who made those maps, etc., anyways)

the storage area is passed a bit (maybe more than a bit) before that. as i said it is possible you just missed, you actually used the key. door unlocked notification can be easy to miss.

I am directionally challenged, but I think the last key you get goes to a door which is closest to the entrance. (I use the torch/pots to help me remember where I have been.)

I found it, and I believe you should pass the door on your way back out.

Going by memory, I may be wrong.

Right when you enter from Vergen, is the tunnel right in front of you.

Thanks to all of your answers - Kitako was most precise, I've finally found it in the tunnel right front of tunnel door from Vergen - it forks, its in the left part. Good for poor Balin he didnot stress himself to sneak there, as no water or food was deposited inside. But maybe he would do one stylish seppuku with robust sword of Dol Blathanna that was in the chest (certainly more spectacular departure than starve himself to death behind snare field).
