TW2 took home Best Game Design, Best Game World and Best Special Edition at the European Games Awards, here's a link : http://www.4players.de/4players.php/spielinfonews/Allgemein/3933/2069517/

Crysis 2 got Best Game and Best Art Direction...both of which should have gone to TW2 IMHO
I agree. The Best Art Direction should be given at least to TW2. I hate Crysis 2, the environment, especially the textures, console downgrade and the COD MW2 feel makes it unworthy of Crysis name.
It will be interesting to see what US gaming scene will think of it...
Will they vote for their own products or recognize that for a change the greatest things is one of their own....
Well, isn't Crytek a German company?

If that was some Polish site I guess TW2 would get treated the same way :)

But definitely Best Art Direction should go to TW2.
I bought and enjoyed Crysis 2, but Witcher 2 destroys it on every level. Cannot understand how it could have lost against Crysis 2.

I just finished crysis 2.. It wasn't bad, it even was good but it really isn't best game. They should just have continued with crysis 1 ending anyway and with nomad.
Honestly I don't see any new Western game which can compete with TW2 in art design category. Award for Crysis is just a bad joke.
I don't agree that Best Art Design should have gone to The Witcher 2.

Honestly I think CDPR did a very good job of representing classical environments in The Witcher 2 to such an extent that I was amazed how pretty everything looked. But there is a difference between The Witcher 2 and Crysis 2 that shouldn't be overlooked: variety. The variety of environments in The Witcher 2 is limited and - I'm afraid - generic (in as much as they're all representative of environments we can relate to in real life), where as in Crysis 2 that are some pretty distinct and unique environments being played out on the screen. So I think that award went to the better of the two in that regard.

The Witcher 2 should have won Best Game however. Crysis 2 isn't a game; it's an engine demonstration.

Call me a cynic, but that's what I immediately thought.

I don't think Crysis 2 deserved to win anything.

It's no wonder gaming is the way it is.

Why should developers do better, when almost any A-rated title, franchise or well-established company always gets glowing reviews and awards?

I don't know about you, but I've never seen a place like Flotsam or Vergen in person. You may imagine these things as generic because of films and books, but rarely have they been so accurately portrayed in video games. Cities have been done thousands of times. You forget that it's Art Design, not msot varied Art Design. Even by that accord, TW2 wins.

Crysis 2 is most definitely a game. I didn't like it as much of the first, but that doesn't make it any less a game. I could make the counter argument that TW2 has too many cutscenes to be called a game.

EA and their advertising budget :)

Plus RPG is a much smaller audience than first person shooters and any public medium is not going to alienate said audience by favouring better game of a different genre :)

Let's face it, everyone will be wasting plenty of HTML code for the Modern Warfare 3 no matter how bad it may be because it will still sell more copies than you can imagine and advertising plus audience equals money.

You must be either well travelled or have amazing imagination if you think that the Witcher 2 settings are generic, of course there is also another option here... so let's try it out :)

If you honestly think that the Witcher 2 settings are generic I would like to hear your option about Dragon Age 1/2 settings because if they were to fit into your scale they would be below bottom line.

I still say.. JC Denton is awesome. Crysis 2 wasn't what I loved to hope that. ..so, suck on a lemon.
Best art direction for Crysis 2!..LOL

Yeah, best art direction...
Best European Studio: Crytek

Seriously, are you kidding me?
What Crytek did to achieve that?

Lied to the players that the game is primary developed on the PC and it will be in DX11, and then releasing it with consolized FOV and only in DX9 with no graphic settings option?

CD Projekt Red is honest to their fans, they are releasing plenty of awesome DLC's and stuff for FREE, they were sending replacement for damaged sculptures with beautifull medallion for FREE. I think it's not necessary to be a rocket engineer to know who should have won that.

P.S.:Sry for my english
