I'd just like to say this, it getting boring reading combat is too hard i can't keep up with the QTE!

the witcher can be challenging. the karan took a few goes to work out of saying "ok ill try this"

QTE is responding to one button qwickly.

download a classic from the 80s from XBoxlive call r-type this game is brutal a hour with that and QTE (on hard in the witcher) will look like a cake walk.

as for classics you had to draw your own maps and activly type in questions for npcs to find clues.

there is no design floor. i commend CDproject. i dont like having my hand held and they have at least given a little bit of that back. if its too hard go back to playing zelda.

i don't want the casual gamers hindering a new golden age of gaming.

my 2 cents anyway
I think games progressed in good ways and in bad ways. 20 years ago, you could draw a solid map because you either had grid-based movement or you had a nice isometric view. TW2 has neither so you need to rely on the game providing you with an accurate map (especially considering some areas have multiple levels).

Many things don't need to be made complex - key shortcuts, a nice and easy inventory (which TW2 doesn't really have, TW1 did though), a fluent UI. I think TW2 makes some mistakes here, by appealing to console users. The QTEs for example don't offer anything of value to the game. They're a pointless element that is not based on skill or experience - either you're good at them, or you're not. Since the reaction time differs from person to person, they're either always easy, or always hard. As I said, pointless.

Nicely put, but as young Cerro said to King Vridank on their first date: "Does it have any practical uses?"
QTE has it use. if its practical is in the eye of the beholder.

Simply its a device to blend interactivity into a cinematic its a way to keep players involved.

i like the fist fights in the Witcher 2 with QTE. Running from the dragon on the other hand was a bit average to say the least.

if it done in a way that adds something extra to the action that couldn't be done with the conventional control like the fight with the kayran on its tentacle its fine.

still its personal choice. some like it others don't. i think it is better than having a mini cut scene half way through a battle.
It depends. Once you get the hang of the controls and level up Geralt everything becomes easy.
On the other hand my wife (she doesn't play any other games besides Witcher) has some real problems with this new combat system even on easy.

Nothing about The Witcher 2 is hard except for the interface, which IMO is just about the worst ever designed. In fact, you actually have to go out of your way to get any kind of challenge out of this game... ie, no Quen, no daggers, no Heliotrope, no upgraded bombs... etc, otherwise it is just too simple to enjoy even on Hard. I don't see the point of the thread though. I mean there are multiple difficulty levels for people who enjoy the game differently, and the ability to mod to your liking. So how could QQ ruin this? Or is your concern strictly for the QTE part of the game?

As for the QTE I have to agree with a poster above... I enjoy it in the fistfights, but its kind of dumb for a battle like running from the dragon. I would actually like to see it more involved on some of those fist fight moves tbh.
it is not hard, just the idiots and whining get hurts with their pity self-esteem and have to blame back the developer to save their precious name
The game rewards you for spending your skills properly. I like that. It also makes you actually feel like your character is improving in power. I like that. It requires more than just diving in and hitting the awesome button repeatedly. I like that.

At the end of the day, I love it. And that's all that matters, if someone doesn't love it well, there's a reason why I plan on purging large segments of the population upon my ascent to power...
i'm working on a mod that maps the qte's to my old nintendo DDR pad. can't wait to try the fistfights then ! no i'm not, that was a lie.
