It's amazing to see people in this thread complaining and posting rude comments about a FREE graphics update for a DRM-free game that's nearly 8 years old..

If the older version of the game ran better for you... why not just go play that version instead of whining on the forums about getting something for free that you feel wasn't good enough for you?

Another user in the thread already explained how you can easily do exactly that.

its amazing to see people fan boying a company so hard and disregarding valid criticism of a terrible update that had no qa. just because a turd is given to you for free doesnt mean it isnt a turd. also you dont know that people arent playing classic and if they are it doesnt make their points less valid. the fact you think this update hype hasnt brought new people in who paid full price shows your ignorance. cdpr dont care about you so stop the brown nosing and have a little integrity
This patch is bloody awful! The game worked the last time I played. After the patch, it's done nothing but stutter and shake.
Thanks GalliCZ for the how to go back to the classic version.

Thank for the "next gen" update and all. but it is a load of crap. I went from ultra 4k/60fps to high1440p with constant crashes... (and when I I say constant, ot's a full software crash every 5 or 6 minutes)
3070, 5800, 16 Go of ram. So no my Pc or hardware are not the culprit.

Next gen update my ass.

Yep. By 2025 maybe it will work. Like CP 2077.
On the bright side, at least the "upgrade" is a separate download/library entry, and they didn't Volition us.

AdadG: DX12 is not a driver, it's an API and it's not new, it was released in 2015 and the RT compatible version in 2018. With all due respect, you have no idea what you're writing and you look ridiculous trying to defend this, what it is indefensible. There are people here with graphics more than twice as powerful as yours and better processors that have problems, you are not fooling anyone.

cszen: I have never played Witcher 3. I brought it a month or so back when I noticed the talk of this update and only installed it when this update arrived. Third person fantasy games aren't my thing, but as this game is hyped I thought I should see what people have been raving about for years. I have a RTX 3080 12GB card and a 3440x1440 144hz IPS display. The game stutters, even from rotating the camera at the beginning of the game (using mouse/KB).

I guess I should uninstall and wait a year in the hope they fix it?
You can play the version before the "next-gen update", 1.32 to be precise.
The pre-update game on maximum settings runs and looks spectacular, try it.

Go to the library on GOG Galaxy > The Witcher 3 > Configuration > Beta Channel and select Classic, 1.32.
This Next-Gen Update has performance problem ; in Novigrad it's really noticeable.
So maybe it's okay elsewhere but my save happens to be there and I can't stand the inconsistent framerate.

When I see the hardware people have trouble with, I won't bother detailing mine.
1.32 runs great, don't bother next-gen unless you're okay with 30fps cinematic feeling...
After all it has become a trend to remake game and make them worst, it's all about next gen :D
