I guess this is not the first post of this kind you see here, I just wanted to give kind of a bump to this subject.
My game keeps crashing, and it simply shouldn't. I run a GTX 780Ti, an i7 4770k and 8Gb of memory. The game is perfectly smooth, didn't check the frames per second, but it seems to be overall very solid, no major drop to cripple my experience or anything of that kind, yet, after 5 minutes or 30 of play, it depends, the game will just crash, send me to my desktop and I have to close it through the task manager. The temperatures seem to be normal ( 80°C top and stable for my GPU ), there is no windows error sound or message to tell me what went wrong, so I'm just here, having no clue what causes this, even though I'd tend to lean towards Nvidia's new driver f**king up on 700 series cards according to what I've read on various forums.
At this point, I tried everything I could find, nothing does it, I can't play the game, still stuck in the tutorial, I'm loving the bits I'm playing but I just can't go any further and really get into it. I don't expect any miracle solution, since as said, I've tried maybe 20 different solutions including GOG support's.
I hope that whatever is causing this problem to many people has been identified and that they are hard at work on this. As much of a d**k as this makes me sound, I see a lot of people who are loving the game and I can't play mine, yet 60€ have been spent, and these are 60€ I didn't find on a tree.

Have a good day/evening.

This keeps happening to me too. It seems to get a little better with each game patch but hasn't been fixed yet. At first it was every 5-10 mins, then it was every half hour, now it's every half hour to an hour. I am really suspicious that it is the Nvidia driver doing it as it seems AMD cards aren't having this problem. (from what I've heard.)

I really can't wait until it's fixed.
Became worse with the latest patch for me. I was having crashes every 2 or 3 hours on 1.02, and now I can't even play 2 minutes without a crash to desktop.
Funny story: i had no crashes until now (almost 30 hours in game) but now i want to get to Skellige but as soon as the video starts i can count to 5 and the game chrashes... there is no way to skip the video so now im stuck there because i cant get to that island...
GTX 980 here , game crashing every 5-10 minutes. Everything freezes, have to press and hold the power button and restart pc.
Core I7 4790 GTX980 16GB of RAM and I just got my first crash to desktop yesterday after the 1.04 patch. No error messages or anything. When I checked my windows logs it said video hardware failure-it seems like nvidia driver is acting up...
A small heads-up to those who experience crashes with Nvidia cards.
Apparently ( and not surprisingly ), it comes from the latest driver which is fudging up with the Kepler cards. Nvidia acknowledged it and is working on a correction.
I found a way to play the game without crashes, but it implied limiting my FPS to 30. In other words, and from what I can make out of this, the game is just an unoptimized hell, but again that's no surprise if it can't even run on high-end rigs. I suggest you guys try to temporary lower your settings too, even if it means running in nasty 30 FPS with 1500 € configurations...
GTX970 owner here, 1.04 reintroduced the crashes that 1.03 had fixed but I tried rolling back to the previous nVidia drivers and (touch wood) I haven't had a crash since. Also, SLI works with the previous drivers whereas it caused a huge FPS drop with the latest ones.

Things I have done that seem to have helped:
Set FPS limit to unlimited
Set window mode to Fullscreen
Set nVidia Power Management to Maximum performance
Rolled back to previous drivers

Hopefully CDPR and nVidia will find a resolution but try the above in the meantime
